Yo harleyDude: Won a 5pk. last week, received them Friday and smoked one Saturday night. Lit evenly but tunneled shortly after, produced a ton of smoke but the ash was very flakey. First quarter was very peppery, second quarter started off with a wood taste and then went totaly bland ( I couldn't believe it it was like no taste at all just alot of smoke ). After deciding not to toss it I went into the third quarter which turned peppery once again and remained so thru-out the rest of the cigar. Harley it was like someone sprinkled pepper on the leafs before rolling and missed a spot. I'll let the others sit for awhile. Let me know what your results are. JonR

From the looks and decription, I expected to hear that they were like the Prensado Oscuro. I guess not.

I had one last night. I didn't much care for it. Constructed and burned fine but the taste did not nothing for me. I agree...bland and kinda tasted like burnt wood or burnt coffee from start to finish..changing in intensity throughout. I was real disappointed as Hoyo Excaliburs are one of my favorites. I won't buy another one. Hope you enjoy it more than I did.

Not all that bad, but still a disappointment. Guess I just expected too much. As others have said, burn was inconsistant and so was the flavor. Too bad, for me.

Maybe I just got lucky. I've had a couple of these in my humi for over a week resting and I couldn't wait any longer to try my first one ever. It fealt good and firm all over. The cut was clean and easy. Pre light draw tasted glorious. It lit right up with lots of smoke and tasted outstanding. The wrapper was nice and oily without feeling like it had crisco all over it. The burn was perfectly even all the way up. I am not sophisticated enough to say it tasted like .....(insert various spices, wood smells etc, here). All I can say is it tasted magnificent throughout the entire stick. It was a good strong smoke without any bad aftertaste or harshness. The outside ash was gray and the inside ash was white.

I give it a grade of B++ and definately look forward to my next one still in the humi. I've got 3 more in a cooler for aging and am confident these smokes will only get better.

Or maybe it's because the Jack Daniels deadened my taste buds........

I haven't had a bad one yet. I only hope yours was a one time experience but Maybe it just doesn't appeal to you. Each one I smoked was full bodied to the nub. Let one rest for a while and see

I think theses are great cigars - reminds me of "pre-boom" maduros - nice and oily. Smoked one, and based on that, bought a whole box about a month ago. My first impression was that this is a very young cigar, and needs laying down. The 2 I have smoked since then have confirmed this, and I think they will be even better in about 3-4 months. Right now, I get a pretty strong citrus taste, with a nice "roundness" coming from the wrapper on this medium bodied stick.
