I'm fortunate to work for a small company and I can smoke in the office. I'm curious, how many on the forum can smoke at work - including those REALLY fortunate souls who work from home.

In California, not likely!! I smoke on the way to work and sometimes on the way home. But never during work...

Work in "cubeville" on an Air Force base, so no smoking inside. I walk around with my cigar at lunch. I CAN work from home via the computer, but can't smoke inside the house so no difference there.

Can't/wouldn't smoke at work, the computers/servers don't like smoke that much. I somke one on the way to work and most of the time go park under some shade trees (FL is hot this time of year) and smoke one during lunch while listening to talk radio. I don't/can't smoke in the house so all of my home smokes are done outside, which I think is more relaxing anyway IMHO.

Remington sounds like we have the same life style. I work in FL. (Central- orlando area). Can't smoke at work would send the fire supression system in to full spray mode. And ofcourse all servers and network equipment would be harmed in the process. Also must smoke outside. I like it outside as well for one I have a large oaktree in my front yard to help cool me off. The only thing I don't like is that I smoke alone, while its nice it would be nicer with some buddies. -Brad-

Wife thinks its bad enough that I smoke cigars at all, so no smoking in the house. I have a big front porch that faces south and east, so I can smoke and watch the moon come up over the trees...

I have NO chance of smoking at work being that a work for a California city that seems to be a pioneer in no smoking ordinances. (Plus I work at City Hall!) I do, however, enjoy a petite of some ilk every now and again during my afternoon constitutional.

Yo Robby, how is that Cupido? Just scored some
yesterday.

I get a chance to smoke at work, the boss says it's ok, as long as I am not in the kitchen, for obvious reasons. I have a great staff, and they understand leaving the "Boss" alone with a smoke every afternoon. I sometimes have to lay it down, if an unexpected rush hits, but that usually only lasts for a few minutes, and I can often get back to it without having to relite. Since I work in the food service industry, many times I don't want to offend the customers, but I always have my afternoon smoke, as well as the 40 min. commute to and from work. I can smoke indoors at home as well. I have a cigar sized ashtray in every room of the house, as well as both porches. I Love being single.

Where I work we have a pretty tolerant policy for lepers, final stages of TB, Bubonic Plague, employees going "postal," etc., but to light tobacco of any kind is an abomination to God!!! So no, to avoid everyone within range of my cigar smoke from instantly dropping dead with cardiac arrest, pregnant females delivering stillborn/malformed babies, forcing us to close our business doors forever, etc., I do not do the unthinkable and light up at work. I do smoke on the way to and from, and since I'm currently living the semi-single lifestyle in an apartment right now, I can light up there whenever.

same as Remi and fox - can't smoke around the machines or anywhere else in the building. I occasionally have one on the way in and keep a humijar on the desk for the way home. A few others here have humijars and we share the wealth.

It was banned in Madison, WI, last year...with the exception of bars, I believe. 3 of our top 10 employers in the county are P&C insurers that probably use higher rates for companies that allow smoking...my guess is that its almost extinct.

I'm active duty Air Force. Germany is very tolerant of smoking. They can start at age 16 here or whenever they can reach the coin machine on any corner. I can't smoke at work in the shop. I could outside in the smokeshack but I don't have an hour to enjoy a good sized smoke. So I smoke in the evenings at home on the back porch. My wife is a long time cigarete smoker and she smokes inside the house. I do occasionaly when the weather is bad.

The place I work at has been around for a loooooong time. Back in the "old days" they apparently used to allow smoking. Now they dont. Weird thing is that there is a part of the building that has not been remodeled since they allowed smoking. If you lean up against any of the walls, your shirt will actually stick to the wall. Apparently from the tar build up???Pretty gross.

Robby: With you being a network guy, I had you pegged out to have a wireless network at the home. Is your connection dial-up, broadband, or DSL?

My first smoke usually happens at 4:50 a.m....which is when I make my 20 minute drive to the radio station where I work. Fortunately my partners do not complain that I probably reek of cigar smoke by the time I get there. I have a humi on my desk in my office and clip one to drive back home with after work, which is usually around noon.

I have also been blessed with a wife who has no sense of smell (how bout that, fellas!) and used to get away scott free with puffing in the house, however now that the place is on the market to sell it's back out to the garage or deck for me.

I love me some Nat Shermans.

Am currently remodeling. My office is being designed with a fan that "will suck the tiles off the walls" so I can smoke in my office if I want. Hey, it's my damn building!

I work out of my house. No smoking inside... too bad.. I would love to have a smoke while shooting pool. Maybe wife would let me smoke an acid in the house... hmmmmm
In Az sometimes it is uncomfortable outside... it can still be 100 at 9 or 10 at night. Life... deal with it!

No smoking policy inside the office. Since I work in a car (refer to "Tough Job" from 6 months ago)we can't smoke there either. My smoke breaks are limited to 15 minutes or so. Sometimes I get a rare moment where I can boondoggle an hour or so and get in a full cigar.

Normally I am relegated to buying and smoking tins of petit's. My current favorite are the CAO maduro petit. The macanudo ascot's aren't half bad either. I'm going to buy some of those Felipe Gregorio shorties in the CI catalogue and give those a try.

Occasionally when we have training days at work there will be as any as 10 of us out in the back lot smoking cigars...those are the good days.

About 25-30 of my co workers smoke cigars so we have a community humidor that is for those who forgot, those who don't have and those who want to try something different. It's never empty. Unfortunately some bast34d in the office emptied out the variety of cigars in the community humidor and filled it with AVO XO Intermezzo's. We are all out looking for him.....so we can thank him profusely.
