A friend of mine that I referred (addicted) to Cbid recently purchased several lots of cigars and received them today. Most are perfect, but he pointed out white spots on the tubed Romeo & Julieta's, which he believes to be mold.
I looked at them and notice that the spots easily wipe off the wrapper, but upon smelling, there's a faint musky odor, which makes me think he's right.
What do you guys (and gals) think/know about these spots? Should he return the cigars? Is his life in jeopardy (the cigars already have warnings on the tube regarding smoking them)? Do moldy cigars (assuming that's what it is) smoke differently or affect the taste?
He thinks this results from over humidification. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Sure hope CBID reads this or can remedy the situation, as I feel downright embarrassed having spoken so highly of the cigars at this site and then to have this happen.
