Partagas Black Label...

The other week I had the pleasure of doing a trade with BillyJackson, while I sent him a few smokeable sticks, this man quietly hits me with a handful of primos. Two of which were Partagas Black Label Clasicos. I have never sampled this line of Partagas, and was knocked over by the quality and flavor.

The Partagas Black Label Clasico is a real beauty, with wrapper sun grown in the Connecticut River Valley, Nicaraguan and Piloto Cubano ligero filler and Dominican-grown La Vega Especial binder. This stick's construction was second to none, and one appreciates that during the entire smoke. The line offers all fat ring sticks, so make sure you set aside a bunch of time to smoke these whales.

This smoke had tons of ultra-rich flavor and sweet aroma, with a rich, robust character. This is touted as a full-bodied stick; the flavors were full and bold, but not harsh or overpowering. I did not notice great plumes of smoke, but enough to satisfy, and it held a nice ash.

I heartily say thanks to BillyJackson for sending me a couple to try, and recommend these fine sticks to all.

...Just a humble opinion...

PT ;-)

Partagas Black and Series S are two of my all time affordable favorites. The only disappointment I have had is that the Black Magnificos seem to have a very tight draw and canoe like crazy. The Torpedos, Classicos and Bravos have all had perfect construction. I just got a box of Bravos...I'll send you a couple of them next week so that you can try that size as well. I'll look for a torpedo and magnifico but I think they have all gone bye bye.

Many thanks...
Your kindness will not go unrewarded!

I smoked one last night at the NJ Herf, and another early this morning (after feeding the baby at 4am... ouch!) What an excellent smoke... We all need more of those!

Have a good weekend!

Peter,

Glad you like them! I got a good deal on a few in Houston a while back and decided to pick some up. I've had one (and have another waiting on me) and I agree with your review. It was a very good experience to smoke one. I was in the running for a 5-pack of Piramides but the paycheck was too dry to win the lot!

Best wishes,
Billy

I took a Partagas from my humidor but it had a RED label and some Spanish writing. So I got a magic marker and colored it making it a Black Label ----WOW !!!
You're right - These are GREAT !!!

OK - having gotten that out of my system -- appreciate your excellent review and concur totally with your findings ---- Give your daughter a kiss from all of her new "uncles" from the Jersey Herf.

Peter, I'm putting a Bravo, Classico and Piramide in the mail to you today. I was out of the Magnificos. I'm also putting a Series S Piramide (I forget the fancy name but it is one size up from the Espendido) in there in case you have not tried one of those. A milder smoke than the Blacks but very enjoyable.

Now here's the catch. Since this post was not on the Trade Board you may not send me anythng in return...really...my humidors are busitng out as it is and I've got a few more boxes due to arive this week.

The cigar I was referring to here was actually a Lusitania --- you know how good that was !! But I have had a few of the Partagas Erie D No 3 Ed Limitada ---- in the words of my friend in Germany --- AWESOME...AWESOME...AWESOME...Rich and creamy, magnificent construction, hints of chocolate !!, almost smokes itself....this is why we light these things up !!

Low - Company does make a significant difference in the taste of the gar! No Doubt!
