I have had many different brands from CB.. I seem to get a lot of cigars that are very harsh. Seems like they were not aged long enough in the bins.. The brands include Macanudo, Padron, Etc. Has anyone had this problem??

Thanks, A

I've been buying now for about 3 years, posting about 1 yr. I've had a few 'cheap' brands that were harsh or just didnt taste good to me.

Now the 'premium' brands I've bought have been fine. My policy is, with 5 packs, to smoke one when they come in, then let the others rest a while.

I've been very satisfied with the condition of my smokes from CBid.

Ditto what Mag said. Smoke one, wait a month, smoke another, etc. Can't say I have ever had a premium smoke bad from CBid, but it COULD happen.

To answer your question, since the condition you are experiencing is across many brands, particularly brands that aren't associated with "harshness", it's possible your cigars are too dry.
Flaky cut, fast, possible uneven burn, and harshness would be some of the symptoms.
Doesn't matter how long you been here. Dry cigars are dry cigars.

Humidor time is your only friend.

I think the problem may be the trailer where they're stored...

I've never had any problems with harsh cigars from c-bid. Howoever, I agree with everyone else in that I tend to let them sit for a month or so before smoking them in order to get the humidity level back up to par.

bingo! back up to or down to par. When I first started bidding, I got a 5 pack of Cuipdo Crillio Comendante(sp) the churhill. I smoked one ott. Blech! I traded most away immediately. Well I found one in the humidor a few weeks ago, it had several months in my humi. It was outstanding! I'm not saying you can take a bad cigar and make it good. But many times, with just a little patience, you can get a really good smoke that you would have turned your nose up at.

Maybe it's just me but my problem always tends to be the opposite. When I first get cigars they seem to be over-humidified. I always assumed this was the case in order to keep them from drying out during shipping. I actually put them in the igloodor to (1) age them a bit, and (2) to allow the humidify/moisture come DOWN rather than up. Of course I like my cigars at no more than 65% RH and that may have something to do with it.

Of course, I assume the internal environment in a trailer has to be more difficult to maintain RH versus Temp.!!!!

dry = harsh. Too, some of the super full-bodied cigars start out sharp the first inch or so, then they "calm down" to the full-bodied flavor they're supposed to have. But CBid cigars are no different than ones I have bought elsewhere, IMHO.

Remember, it is summer time. Who knows how long UPS has it sitting in that brown oven.

I agree w/Meanie above and since I work at home, try to get my stoges right into a humidor at once. I do the whole 1 for now, 4 for later thing, too.

Very happy w/C-bid.

QUESTION: Anyone else stopped getting their groovy matches incl.? And what happened to their cool yellow & black boxes for mailing?

Don't know for sure about the groovy matches, but IMO they're all going to Robby now. Believe this is all a master plan he had devised from the very beginning with his original post, and we're now standing by, matchless, watching it unfold.

Just my thoughts......

Thanks for the replies guys.. I have heard a lot of good things about CBid.. I always seem to get that amonia taste.. That kind that burns your tounge.. I don't know if time in the humi can cure that?
