I'm Curious AlohaBob which Island are you on. I was on Oahu for 2 years back in 97-98. For the most part I had a great time. Just curious. Thanks.

Jon,

I was stationed on Kaneohe Bay on Oahu. Lovely beaches and night life. Unfortunatly I did not do as much as I wish I had and did not go to any other islands except for the Big Island for training PTA (Pohakalua Training Area) sorry is I misspelled that. I never thought I would ever freeze my A$$ of in Hawaii but there I did. Amazing. The one thing I did love about Hawaii was the way the culture is treated. Hawaiians in my eyes treat their culture with such respect and adournment that one would hope everyone did the same. I look forward to returning someday. Met my wife there and thats we fell in love.

After looking the recent post I think I feel like an idiot. I think I misread the Aloha Bomb for Aloha Bob! Not sure what I was drinking at the time but if I remember I will need to stay away from it. Sorry about the confusion.

I lived at Salt Lake on Oahu for 9 months in 77'. Long enough to get "Island fever..." :-) pretty place though, I'd like to visit again one day.

Brad,

I guess you will have to come back to Hawaii and do some of the things you missed out on the first time then huh? C’mon down, bring the family and we can get together and I will show you the local side of Hawaii!! We can have a drink and a smoke and learn a little about the culture you were referring to.
Pohakuloa… yeah, that pretty much sucks. Middle of nowhere, nothing but training areas and dirt roads. Not quite the Hawaii, you were counting on I guess.

*sigh* I guess I am still alone… AlohaBob does not exist what a cruel joke. LOL

Robby – I have several friends that live in Salt Lake, about 20 minutes from me. ’77 was a long time to be away when you catch that island fever… maybe we need to get the WHOLE board to come down and have that “surf and herf” that Lowman has been talking about for so long. First drink is on me!!... and a plate lunch for E-chick(I haven’t forgotten)

*wishful thinking*

Aloha,

Jon,

Sounds like a great idea, As soon as I hit the lottery and can afford to take a vacation like that I am there :) My wife and I do plan on going back some day, Maybe it will be an Anniversary present of sorts. I do remember riding my bike through the pineapple fields. Not exactly through them but on the road. Sorry it wasn't a Harley (Wishful thinking). Loved it. Could ride around the whole Island in less than an hour if I remember correctly, maybe hour or two. Soon, very soon. I to had Island fever at times, also had cabin fever with the plane ride back to the continental 48. LOL..
