Today I found out that Ikonoklast7 (Dan) and myself were banned from our local cigar shop. We were under suspicion of stealing and the guy didn't even give us any details. We have never stole or anything from this shop. I was loyal to this guy by making him the only place I would shop at. I feel betrayed by this. This guy got plenty of business through me and I even considered him a friend. Nothing pisses me off more than being falsely accused of something. I tried talking to this guy and he said it was nothing to be debated. The shop could atleast talk to us and we can work out since we did not do anything ,but the damage has been done.

LAME! what did he say? Did you ever mentioned C-bid? Maybe he thought you guys were competition and this was his chickensh*t way of keeping you out...hmmmm...Maybe he thought you purchased your "stock" from C-bid to price him outta the market?

LOL! wow...

Well, there were actually three people banned. Chris (godfather), me, and a friend named Patrick.

As we left Saturday (the last time we were in there before he accused us of shoplifting), he shot us a real dirty look. Chris and me both bought one apiece and smoked them in the store, but Pat bought two, smoked one, and saved the other for later.

Maybe he thought Patrick was stealing the second one when he had really just paid for it an hour ago. But maybe it was something before that day, because Mike (our local tobaconnist) acting really strange and POed at us that day, but said nothing was wrong.

We had told him before about CBid, which caused him to go into a tantrum about how cigar makers cater to online and catalog cigar store before they sell to local guys, but in the end said he didn't blame us (and how could he?), because we were just taking the better deal (that's the idea of capitalism, isn't it?).

I don't think he was afraid of us as competition, because we never sold or traded cigars locally.

I don't know...it's horsesh!t. I would've considered Mike a good friend, and I feel really POed and upset that he would accuse of that, both destroying our business relationship and our friendship.

Oh well...life goes on

Also, to tonester666,

I'm sorry, but the shop we just mentioned is the only one I know that sells 8-5-8 Sungrown. So until I find another one that does, I can't do that trade.

Sorry man :-(

I agree that irrepairable has been done. Once a vendor takes the step your cigar shop owner took, there is no turning back. I understand he didn't give you the courtesy of talking about it (..."there's no debating"....), but something seems rotten in Denmark here. Even if he had seen something that caused him strong suspicions, this is still a really drastic step to take. For example, if over a period of time you buy 10 cigars for $8 each and they cost him $4 each, he has made $40 in profit. If he suspects you shoplifted one he is still $36 ahead, and anticipates that you will continue to buy from him. I believe something else may be involved here even if he won't share it with you. Just my thoughts..........

He's a greedy self-serving jerk!

Wipe the dust off of the bottom of your shoes and never grace THAT place again. Tell your friends about your experience there and warn them about what happened to you.

My local shop knows I will come to him or any local shop I'm near(He gets 98% of my business!)and that I will go online...heck I even strolled in his shop once with my CBid hat on(where's my royalties for that Trish?!?)and he looked at the logo...laughed...looked at the logo again...said, "I love the smiley face!"

Mark my words that this wasn't about your purchases or supposed shoplifting. He's just a jerk if he won't talk it out. Like Joe Walsh says..."You just turn your pretty head, and walk away!"

Don't go back.

10 cigars for $8.00 EACH. why you must be made of money. that's $80.00 you could have bought enough bad frogs at a buck a five pack to last you a life time.

Maybe he's unstable? There are people out there (out here) who walk in to malls and start blowing folks away... People who hear things... He could just be a paranoid schizophrenic.

Did some of you talk to his other customers abut C-Bid and their great deals, and if so maybe he found out about it. Just like C-Bid doesn't allow posting other cigar sites here, maybe he feels the same way and figured he would rid his shop of you guys. Just a thought. JonR

he definitely should of discussed it with you guys and it does sound as if it is something else. I think he could have mentioned that the cameras made it appear as if you took something and that he knew you better than that, so if you could be a little more conscious of that here's a free one on me. It would have made both parties aware of suspicion, given you the benfit of the doubt, and begun reciprocity in the business relationship. Foolish move on his part

JohnFS - He doesn't read these forums, and even if he did, there are several cigar shops in my area, and neither I nor Godfather have ever mentioned his business by name here (and until this post, I've never even mentioned him by name). No risk there.

Cooksta2 - He doesn't have cameras in his shop, so he didn't have any video evidence of a theft. So unfortunatley, its just his word against ours, and the butthole isn't wanting to talk things out.

JonR - We never mentioned CBid to any costumers, just him, so I don't think that's it. But maybe he thought we would someday...you might be on to something...

Arwings - we figured that he'll lose $1200 a year for each of us three not being patrons (and his business is small, so he needs ever dime), so he's a dumbass for throwing away our biz like that.

I think either DrMaddVibe or Robby is right, that he's either an @$$hole or crazy (for throwing away our business and our friendship like that)

And Godfather (Chris) and I agree with Arwings and DrMaddVibe, that even if things get patched, we're both going to be very reluctant to set foot in his establishment again.

Him accusing us of shoplifting, to me, felt like my best buddy accusing me of screwing his girlfriend. Not only did we have a good business relationship, but I would've considered him a good friend, and my jaw hit the floor when he told us we were barred from coming in there again.

If he thinks I'm the one who stole, then he's out of his freakin' mind. I've had opportunities to steal before from him, but never have. Example: One day he recommended a Puros Indios Maxima Reserve and gave it to me, forgetting to ring me up. I smoked it there, and I knew I could just walk out without paying a dime and he'd never have realized, but like a good costumer and friend, I said, "So you gonna charge me or what, pal?" with a smile and paid.

I think there might be a li'l bit of discrimination involved as well. Both me and Godfather are young, college-age boys, and most people stereotype shoplifters as being young men (which a friend in the security biz tells me is not true, shockingly enough, middle-aged women are actually the most likely to shoplift, lol). But he should know us better than that by now!

We both had crappy days today, and our local guy giving us the boot didn't help.

On the brighter side, Godfather did discover a cigar shop on the other side of the Ohio (in Louisville, KY) that sells Padrons (including PAM), all kinds of Davidoff-made cigars (including Zinos), and Fuente Hemis!

The only thing they're missing is OpusX, but maybe I can buy some of those PAMs and do some trading someday.

Sorry for rambling on and on, but it just really infuriates me to be accused and unceremoniously dumped out like this!

Perhaps you should confront the jerkwad, tell him that either he provide proof that you stole something or you'll consider suing him for slander/libel. Because of course, you have to bet the store owner's been bad mouthing you guys to all his other customers.

Then of course, never shop there again.

2 cents.

Hey man,
Where are you located?? I have a clutch of freashly hatched timberrattlers, that the forest service told me I need to release. Noone around here wants me to release them around their house, but they are a protected species, so I must release them. Gotta place in mind????
I am almost out of mice to feed them.

Dave, I had no idea you were affiliated with professional baseball !! .. I'm confused though ...what does the Forest Service have against the Seattle Mariners that they would require you to release those minor league ballplayers ???
