i got a new humidor about a month ago....been havin a heck of a time gettin my humidity to balance out (come down, it keep hoverin over 80)........i tried just leavin it cracked open a bit, puttin rice in it, only thing thats brought it down is letting the humidifiers dry out completely.....it came with 2 humidifiers.....would it make sense to use one for pg solution and the other for distilled water??? i mean, a 50/50 solution is sposed to be perfect right, i dunno, made sense in my head, just seein what yall thought

thanks, jordo

What's the humidity in you dwelling? You may need a portable dehumidifier, like a hampton bay? Mine runs 24/7 even with the AC in the summer. I have to in order to keep the humidity in the house less than 70.

1. Calibrate your hygrometer (salt test)

2. Take it OUT of your humidor.

3. Measure the humidity in your house (ambiant).

If it's too high, and you don't want to go the hampton bay (home depot) route, get 50 pound bags of rice and place them around the house and measure again...

Likely the ambient humidity. Another thought; I have occasionally gotten in an order of cigars, particularly bundles, that were moist enough to significantly raise the humidity in the humidor until the PG solution could get it under control. If you mix your own PG and distilled water you might try a 75% PG and 25% water mix. Just a thought.......

After making sure your hygrometer is accurate, of course.

Hey BigJordo,
Take your solution, and a bottle of distilled water, to the chem lab, or the local drug dealers house, and borrow a triplebeam scale, or those neat digitals. Weigh equal amounts of distilled water, and PG, by weight not volume. That is a 50/50 solution. Not distilled water in one humidifier, and PG in the other. Though the others are right about the rest of your problem.
