Its supply and demand, but I have seen 3 boxes go for 160-200 in the last few months.

No such thing as a 'fair price' for a cigar that may never be released again ...

I've seen them at that 'other' auction site selling for close to $300 a box ... :(

You had to be in the right place at the right time, several months ago. I got a box for $100 in the midwest. Now overpriced for me.

A box of the 858 SG's for $100 ???

That's below MSRP for the Sun Grown, but right in line with the Natural and Maduro ...

Whoever sold them to you, didn't realize what they had ...

The last price list I have lists the 858 SGs for $4.50 each. Is that current?

my 858 SGs were bought in a CF auction about a year and a half ago for 125 or 130. The oils from the sun grown wrapper are clearly visible in the cedar sleeves... When you peal the cedar away, the cap is nicely plumed. Very nice!

donutboy2000 --- yes, that is current, but the price list is inutile when it comes to 'supply and demand' ... especially when it is a very rare cigar that is no longer being produced ...

... and you are buying them from individuals and at auctions. You will be one very lucky guy if you find them at a tobacconist, unless they had a few boxes stashed away ... and just brought them out!

Robby; get on over to the trade board man!!! Hurry!
What a find that would be to locate a shop that has these sitting on a shelf and there for you. My local shop had 2 sealed boxes and an opened box last year before Xmas. List was almost $8/stick. Wore out a pair of old sneaker kicking myself in the arse for not buying more than 4...
However did a box split with jdrabinski and got half. Very very special occasion smokes now.

Warning! There are fakes beginning to emerge. If you see them on that "other" auction website and can bid for a very attractive price, you may not be getting the real McCoy. I've encountered this twice already. What is called 858s are being bid on at unbelievably low prices but they aren't the real thing. As I understand it from my correspondance they are pretty good cigars in their own right, just not the real thing. Almost got got up in this myself just a couple of days ago. Just FYI...........

I can usually get them for about $5.99 a stick locally. Hmmm... didn't know they were so limited. I am going to have to stock up on a few.

Guys,

If that is the genuine AF SG Flor Fina 858, then you guys got an extremely great deal, from a tobacconist that didn't know what they had. I've hunted many sources for them and was lucky enough to get a few, at a fair price.

As you all know from Slim's comments above and on previous threads, they are limited and probably will not be produced under that title again.

Consider yourselves lucky...and enjoy a truely fine smoke.

Ed

arwings --- Id like to see that site too ... since there are the Natural and Maduro in the 858, I want to see if they are trying to pass those off as 858SG ...

Geez... I think my local tobacconist must read this website because he was trying to gouge my buddy something like $10.99 a stick for some 858 SG today. Good thing he is in sales and was able to talk him down to a more reasonable $6-7 each....
