Had some money burning a hole in my pocket and just
purchased a box of AF Chateau Fuentes at my local
shop for $78...that includes tax.

I'm thinking I paid average price...any thoughts?
Did I get suckered?

I think you got a pretty good deal. You might have invested a lot more of your time and energy and could have come up with a couple of bucks less, but the ease of this transaction was probably worth the extra couple of bucks to you. BTW I haven't been able to find them for a better price than that and I do a lot of web browsing.

A buddy here sent me one of the 858 SG's and it was
damn good. I did a search on the threads and it looks
like everyone's in agreement. Of course, the Chateaus
aren't as rare as the 858's.

I wonder if they'll be making more of the SG Chateaus.
I read they won't be making more of the SG 858's. I
know this is reduntant to a lot of 'yal out there.

Oh well, out to try my first SG Chateau. Whish me luck! Looks like a half-hour smoke.

The Chateau line will probably always be there. Also, those chateaus only get better with each passing month...

I was 'jonesing', and paid $7 apiece for two of them a couple of weeks ago at 'Republic of Kalifornia' prices ... LOL!

My Report:

A good two-a-week smoke. For the price
not bad. I'll tell ya what though, for a
small cigar it was powerfull, and spicey!
I found it to be a little harsh though,
definitely needs humidor time jd1. The
taste on the lips is great. Gotta love
those SG wrappers!

At just under $4 a stick, I'm pleased.
No complaints here. Hope they mellow a
little with age.

The AF SG's, IMHO, are all fine smokes with the 858 at the very top of that line.

The AF SG Chateau/Double lines is always part of my usual rotation, and usually not diffcult to purchase at a good price.

Octo,

If you get a chance, pick up some of the Cuban Belicosos. They will need a little humidor time, but they are very tasty! Some people like them better than the 858s, and others rank them just behind the 858s. I've never had an 858 STG yet, but liked them better than the rest of the SG line.

In any case, you got a pretty good deal on a good cigar!

Enjoy!
Matt
