Last night was Whiskey River Wednesday at a local bar and grill, so I couldn't pass up $2.50 Maker's Mark...my first sampling of it by the way...and it was smooth.

Along for the ride was my first Perdomo2 (Red band Millenario...basically a Belicoso). I have come to notice that I really prefer tapered heads. Given the choice and the funds, I think I will always go for the Torpedo, Perfecto, Belicoso installments rather than the ever popular Robusto.

At any rate, the light was very spicy (no, it wasn't the bourbon). It took a couple or three draws to let it mellow out (as many that start of spicy do, in my experience). The burn was adequate...no major problems that couldn't be corrected. The box press shape was much more tolerable to me due to the tapered head...the draw did not seem unnatural to me like some box shaped cigars do.

As far as flavor, it was solid. I don't exactly know all the terms to use to describe it, so forgive my anemic explanation. Nonetheless, it was savory enough. I took my sweet time with it (as well as with the bourbon). In fact, I might have smoked it too slow (is there such a thing?)...it took me 1.5 hours to finally call it quits. I did not make it to the nub...it started tasting very badly about 2.5 inches left, as if I had toked it too quickly. Maybe its demise was my fault...not sure.

All in all, it was a good experience to at least have tried it. Thanks to whoever sent it to me in a trade (I forget exactly who it was).

I smoke Perdomo2 in all varieties, a lot! Usually one of my "go-to" cigars (along with the Torano Exodus '59s). I do agree that the finish can be quite "challenging." Don't think it has much to do with the WAY they are smoked but 1 1/2 inches is about as far down as I can smoke them. I have thought it might have more to do with how the tobacco is processed somehow.

You need to try maduro version the Perdomo2! I've only had one, but it blew me away. Maybe it was just that one, but it tasted like it had been sitting in the aging room for decades! A veeeery, very nice cedary and full taste
