cbid packages and my wife..

Today, I was talking about what was coming in the next package from cbid. My wife immediately said, you have more coming? Ha ha.
Then she started to ask about how much I have spent at cbid. I side stepped the subject, but my son just had to help her figure it out. Nice kid, huh?
Ha ha, she said if I keep it up, she will put me on restriction from cbid.
I then told her to price the humidor i just got from cbid and see how much I saved. That got me a slight reprieve. LOL!
Besides, the humidor was bought because my son thought it looked cool and he wanted it for his stuff (not cigars, nicknacks).
I get the humidifier that comes with it.
I told her I would keep from buying anything from cbid for a little while, but didn't say anything about CI. HA HA HA!
Dog gone cbid is too good.
She did say that after we get back from Las Vegas in November, I could make some decent purchases, but I'd have to limit myself until then.
The things we do to keep our wives happy. :)

Op,

I can relate. My thirteen year old son absolutely hounds me about how much I'm buying from C-bid. Sheesh, I may as well be married again!! Anyway, he's mostly concerned about my health, and when he sees my stockpile at home, he gets concerned, so I can't totally blame him. I'm ashamed to admit I've done the bit about promising no more C-bid for a while, and then turning around to take advantage of CI weekly specials :) Oh what fiendish depths we cigar smokers sink to.

Ha ha,
There are so many good deals and in my situation, the 5 & 10 packs are ideal until I get a better sense of what I like for an everyday cigar.
I wouldn't mind AVO Classic as an everyday cigar, but then she'd really not like it. :)

My wife just likes to give me a bad time. She keeps me in line and with money to spend, so I can't complain. LOL!

I think when we all started we got the same thing from our wives. The more you deal with CB/CI , the more you will learn to hide your winning. I have done this, I have 2 cooledors full of cigars. My wife knows better then to look in them. I think she knows she will be sick. But I brought in boxes late at night more times then once and have all shipments go to my work address.
I know honesty is the best thing for a relationship but CB/CI can also be a relationship killer. I love my wife to much to upset her with all my buys.

Woohoo! Girlfriend is letting me spend 100 bucks on cigars! She liked her B-day gift so much and it was cheap too, that I can spend the money on sticks. Must choose carefully.

I guess we do everything we can for our loved ones, and try our best to make them happy and us happy too.

Zero Patience...

It sounds like you need to join CBA...Cigar Bidders Anonymous.

It's a recovery group for chronic, addictive bidders...basically all of us.

Only problem is: we've only gotten worse!

Ha ha, too funny.
Although, it may be pretty close to the truth.
It is funny how my wife will get on me about spending money on cigars and then turn around and say I need another humidor. :)
I've learned along time ago that when Momma says I can spend some money, I never argue or waste any time, cause she can change her mind in a heartbeat. ;)

Hell, Zero, she probably will blow $200 on a pair of high-heels at the drop of a hat...but she gets on you from buying from CBid!

Not much difference between the two...you can only smoke a cigar once...and she'll probably only wear those expensive dress shoes once as well, lol.

I learned 20 years ago that if she wants a $200 pair of shoes, I shut my mouth and let her buy them.
I need all the leverage I can get and a $200 pair of shoes is something I would remember. I can't never seem to remember anything else she does wrong or I can use against her. :)

Momma remembers ever thing I have ever done wrong.
How she remembers it all, I have no clue.
I can never remember anything she does wrong, until an hour after the arguement. Like that is any help at all.
Needless to say, I never win any arguements. ;)
I learned along time ago to just admit I was wrong or it was my fault right off and be done with it.
It saves time and headaches and......
I can then go back to what ever it was I was doing. Like working in the shop or smoking a cigar. :)

You're all a buch of wimps,............. just kidding.LOL

My wife has her hobbies and her credit card and I have my hobbies and my credit card. We both fish and as long as our hobbies don't affect the fishing, then everything is great. There's no such thing as a sacrifice to keep fishing. As a matter of fact, sometimes fishing requires a sacrifice ;)

I just tell my wife that when she gets to the point that she can't stand my cigars anymore, I'll just run out and buy a couple cartons of Marlboro's and start THAT nasty habit back up. That usually buys me a couple weeks.

She doesn't gripe about how much I spend here anymore. I just show her the credit card bill where she paid $1,500 for friggin bedspreads and pillows and sheets and frilly crap for the new bedroom set. If that's what it takes for me to be left alone here at cbids, so be it.

She's already remarked that I spend a lot of money on here...that's the first step towards nagging me about it...

Been there....wait a minute, I'm still there.

My best strategy to date was to get her pregnant. Now I can say that all the cigars I am buying are to hand out once the baby is born:)

i would rather talk about overbidders, cello on or off, or any topic that has ben beat to death, then listen to a bunch of beaten down, p**sy whipped guys.

how in the world can you look yourself in the mirror and not see the little boy who is still controled by his mommy.

i'm not suggesting you spend all the family money on cigars, but how can grown men be told by their wives or worse, girl friends, how many cigars they are allowed to have. how can you mention it in public and not feel foolish. when did your spouse or girl friend become your mother with the power to decide what's best for you.

i can understand a little about the not smoking cigars in the house. bradley and i agreed when he became my partner in the business that i would not smoke in the office. it has a bad effect on his voice and it was a fair agreement.

i cannot imagine "telling" toby how many beanie babies or barbie dolls she is allowed to have. i'm her husband not her father.

i sometimes overbid, sometimes i take the cello off, and sometimes i check the humidity.

i.e., if you piss your wife off bad enough, she'll go away, and take half your stuff, and you'll only be left with enough to smoke bad frogs, and, oh wait, I think I've hit on something hear, nevermind, sorry, don't want to dig up a sore subject...

I thought my wife was wrong twice this past week, but I was wrong.

It was the FUNNIEST thing, I had her dead to rights wrong NOT JUST ONCE, but TWICE, and by the end of the conversation I was the one who said sorry.

I think in my intro, I said I realized I had some "catching up to do" after I counted the avg cost of all of her hobby supplies, and that's AFTER my full tilt home theater with Front Projector and 7.1 surround sound and the 400 movies I have. Time for more golf and cigars......

Of course I realized as well, I could afford a MUCH nicer house if I just cut back a little bit, one round of golf a month instead of four, rent instead of buying DVD's.

I'm still married to the same woman I married 21 years ago. I still have all my toys I have collected over those years. She will nag from time to time. That doesn't mean I am "p" whipped. I look through the topics list and if I see one like "celo on or off", I go onto another one. If you don't like the topic, don't read it.

RICKAMAVEN,
Since I started this thread, I guess I'm to blame and totally p whipped. Yeah, right.
It is called common courtesy. Sure my wife gets on me about spending money. But she is damn good with money and she is also our money manager, so I compromise.

You see, my wife is the number one important thing to me. I could care less if you think I am whipped.

i'm sure you are not. it's the way you guys describe the scenario. if you both sat down to discuss the budget, that would be one thing. but the

she will put me on restriction from cbid

My girlfriend had put a stop on the bidding

Woohoo! Girlfriend is letting me spend 100 bucks on cigars

but "P" whipped is a good set of words to cause excitement.

the other day eleltea used "cavalierly" i thought that was a great word.

i think i'll start a thread aksing for great words. not poetry or quotes, just a really great word or two.

How does that saying go? Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. In fact my wife bought me my humidor and 150 sticks that came with it. As the house brands dwindle I have been replacing them with my favorites from CBID, of course they sometimes become pretty crowded in there for them all. This humidor is the only one I have so its acts as my limiter. Anyway wife does not mind of my spending after all we have no children so I am the big kid in the house with a FEW nice toys. I must say I do plenty for her and marriage is a give and take. I have learned you can’t rush a good smoke so; I do not (or try not) to rush a good bid.

Rickmaven,
I am p#$$% whipped! And proud of it! My girlfriend knows I like cigars, but she also knows I need to save money to buy other things like a house. So she has set some limits to help me save, and it is working great. I'm not a cheap person, and she knows it, so that's why she has set this up for me, so that I can be aware of what I am spending. And everyone on this boards knows how it is, you can have enough cigars but still spend money.

We will both be thankful for it, because I love her with all my heart. One day I plan to marry her and live in the house that we buy, and some of that money will be from the cigars savings money.

I'm sorry you don't like this post. No one made you read it, or respond to it. Maybe now you know how those republicans feel when they read your posts.

Gentlemen........gentlemen..........I can't believe what I'm hearing! I agree with rick. You obviously are all P-whipped. I guess it is my military background, but I believe in confronting the situation with a frontal attack and putting the wife/SO in their proper place. I handle it with the following steps:

1. I will only talk to Cbid on pay telephones that I feel reasonably sure are not being monitored. I have a total of five in my neighborhood.

2. I only place bids on computers other than my own (friends) and I use psuedo-names so that my identity can't be tracked.

3. I have the UPS man only deliver between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 1:00 am (costs me extra but he knows me).

4. I have the UPS man deliver to five addresses of acquaintances other than me on a rotating basis (costs me a lot more extra, but he knows me).

5. I arrange to pick up my packages from my acquaintances at odd times on a varying basis (they think I'm riduculous but they humor me).

6. As a result my packages are spirited into the house anytime my wife/SO is not there.

As a result, I have never had a cross word about my cigar purchases with my wife/SO. As a matter-of-fact she does not know Cbid exists.............further, she has no idea that I know Cbid exists.

Sooooooooo....I agree with Rick; are you a group of mice, or a group of men!! If you are having a problem with your wife/SO, confront it directly with a plan (you can use mine as a pattern if you chose) and STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!!

For a small handling fee, say a couple sticks per shipment you can have all your purchases mailed to me and I'll repackage them and ship them to your home. I'll label them as car parts, sporting goods, or some other item that the wife won't object to.
