I finally won a five pack of these at a reasonable price (from Cbid of course!), and let them sit for a few days in prep for my first sampling of this most prestigious brand. Well, I smoked a few this weekend, (after a 6 hour blackout commute out of Manhattan) and I have one word for my experience... disappointing.

At first the sticks offered me the hints of nuts and toast as promised in most reviews, but then the little stick just got hot and I noted hints of grass, and sour wood. Not what I expected for a stick of this pedigree. Also I had to work hard for any evidence of smoke, and what I did get was thin and pale gray.

I should note that the construction was superb, and I had no issues with the draw or ash. Actually it held an ash from first light to almost half way. I saved my last two and buried them in a humi for some serious down time, I do hope this helps these smokes... I really did wanted to love them...

Anyone have a similar experience with these?

PT :-(

Not I ... as I found the two sampler packs and the 5-Pack of Maduro I won a few years back to be excellent.

I especially like the Maduro ... much better, IMHO ...

But, like I said ... the last time I had one was a couple of years ago, and things may have changed since then ...

I've had a couple of these in Natty and I found them to be a decent cigar but not worth the price. The one I had in maddy I didn't like at all. I've had the rest napping for some time. I think I will revisit these again. X

I would rate the natties I have had as "good-very good" but a long way from great or supurb.
Construction and draw were uniformely 1st rate but there are many smokes I have liked better for that money or less.

Maybe I'm not well rounded in my experience, but these are great IMO. I've never had a problem (although I've only taken down 3). If I had the money handy, they would be one of my considerations for a box purchase.

I've tried it and enjoyed it, but I have to agree, I think it's a bit over-rated. I've smoked cigars that I enjoyed as well or better for considerably less expense. I will say that my expectations may have played a role in that I expected more than I received due to the "hype" and (my own) anticipation. I won't go with them again but I'm glad I had the opportunity to try them.
