The NFL Weekly Cigar Pool matchups are about to be sent out for week #1 ... some of you have confirmed an interest to participate, some have said no interest and some have said 'maybe' ... most have said nothing either way.

A preliminary e-mail is being sent today to all who've opted in ... please, feel free to join by sending me an e-mail expressing your interest ... my e-mail addy is:

For those who don't know, here's the scoop on the pool ...

Each week, I send out (via e-mail) the matchups for the games to be played that week ... you make your picks and return the note to me ... I send a copy of the spreadsheet to all participants showing the picks each participant has made ... winner is the person with the most correct picks with the MNF game serving as a tie-breaker ...

Each participant sends the winner a cigar* ... there is a high enough level of interest this year for first, second and third place prizes ...


* The cigar to be sent should be one from your regular rotation, one you would be happy to receive yourself if you were the winner.

there's a bit of confusion over the fact that it appears there'll be 2nd and 3rd place prizes this year ...

The weekly liability is still only one stick ... to cite an example I gave yesterday in an e-mail, let's say there's 42 participants in the pool on a given week ... 3 of those people will win cigars, leaving 39 who'll each send ONE cigar to ONE other person based on information each of them receives from me ... 24 of those 39 will send them to the first place finisher, 10 to the second place finisher and 5 to thrid place ...

LMK if you want in ... with a pot of somewhere between 3 and 4 dozen smokes, it's gonna be a fun year ...

And, in answer to the most FAQ this week .... NO ... it is NOT too late to join ... we'd love to have you .. the first post in this thread outlines what's going on ... if you wanna play, you're welcome to do so ...

Your liability to participate is ONE cigar* each week ... if all who've said they want to play submit their picks, the winner each week will receive the equivilent of a box of cigars ... second prize most likely a couple of five-packs and third place one five-pack ...

* Note that this one cigar needs to be one of your regular rotation, and a cigar that you would be pleased to receive if you were the winner.
