Heard the rave on this new cigar so I bought five to try out. Smoked two this weekend and while fresh in my mind…..- I think the cigar is well made, with a semi-box press shape. Solid feel with no soft or hard spots in any of the samples I have. Wrapper (I think is Cameroon) is extremely fragile and flaked on a few sticks, especially up at the cap. The wrapper had a wonderful aroma and reminded me of the C.A.O Cameroon sticks. After lighting, I noticed two things immediately. First, the cigar has an overbearing peppery taste. Right away, I thought this cigar was the Perdomo 2.The filler/wrapper combo must be similar. Secondly, the draw on this thing is effortless. So much so, it felt uncomfortable to smoke. Normally, I would worry about the cigar burning fast and hot, but this cigar burned flawlessly. It just felt like there was a hollow tube in the center of the cigar. With the slightest pull, my mouth was full of smoke. I don’t know if ‘this’ is good or bad at this point, but I typically like to feel a little resistance in the cigar. Overall I think the cigar is slightly better than average. You can tell a lot of time and extra care goes into making this cigar, although the taste is missing something. I would class the smoke as medium bodied, with a smoothness that is overwhelmed by a strong pepper flavor. Maybe Emiril had a few “BAMS!!! added to this recipe? My lip was actually tingly after smoking this thing. This cigar didn’t live up to it’s billing for me, but I would also be more forgiving if the cigar was not so expensive. In my mind, the price tag did not leave this stick any margin for error. Thoughts..?

I bought a box of the Monstros and they are excellent cigars IMHO, one of the best I've had this year, or in my 'young career' for that matter ... the Monstro uses two types of ligero leaves and a 5 year aged wrapper. They were flawless coming out of the box (has built in humidification device). I won a 5-pack of Regentes at CB auction, and I noticed the same thing you did, Wany. They were too dry, and the wrapper flaked and cracked. If they are kept at optimal conditions, I don't think you would have that problem. And to top it off, they stuffed them in the same box with some Acid Nasty's, but that's a different post ... I know that the price is high, and it's only going to get higher. They have been limited to 250,000, with distribution limited to only 200 of the most prominent tobacconists in the United States. They claim the Perdomo "Estate Seleccion" will not be sold through alternate distribution channels such as direct mail catalogs or over the internet. If you want the cigar, you must call or visit your local tobacconist. This cigar collection is available in five unique sizes: the "Imperio" (5 ½" x 48 - retail price: $8.00); the "Regente" (5" x 54 - retail price: $9.00); the "Aristocrata" (7" x 54- retail price: $10.00); the "Prestigio" (6 ½" x 55 - retail price: $11.00); and the "Monstro" (6 ½" x 54-60 - retail price: $12.00). All five sizes are carefully packaged in laser-engraved royal mahogany boxes lined in aromatic Spanish cedar numbering 22 to a box. Which ones did you get?

...oh ... and I forgot to add that the filler and binder crop have been specially aged since 1995 and the Nicaraguan rosado wrapper, grown exclusively for the Perdomo family, is subjected to an unprecedented three fermentation periods. The Perdomo "Estate Seleccion" is then box-aged for 14 months before shipment to retailers is permitted.

now that was some description on a cigar! It was like the book nerd in school writing a ten page paper when only three required, anyway, well done! Though the only problem after reading both reviews is that I still don't know if I should spend the money to try one! In the back of my mind I always felt the Perdomo 2 to be a bit over rated, and this cigar with all the hype surrounding it seems to fall in the same class.
