To everyone in the forum, I would initially like to say good evening. My family and I just arrived back from our Caribbean Vacation on late Friday so that I have not been able to respond to emails sent by some of you. Also, we had our 4th Annual Block Party to prepare for this Sunday…so I have been busy, and thus have not been able to visit this forum until now. I believe I mention I was going to be away for most of August to most of you guys, and even posted a Thread in the MSC section last month. OMG, I can’t believe this Thread is all about me. Never had a Thread about me like this before.

My apologies to everyone on the Forum and especially, to ikonoklast7. My purpose in sending you various brands and sizes of ISOM’s was to further your knowledge on them since I noted your interest in ISOM’s from previous posts. Therefore I randomly chose various ISOM’s from one of my humidors. I purchase most of my ISOM’s, but many are also gifted by many fellows BOTF. To say I have plenty of various ISOM’s would be a gross understatement. Unfortunately, the R& J Mille Fleurs was actually purchased by my neighbor who is fairly new to cigar smoking, while he was visiting Cancun. I remember him showing me the unopened box for verification and yes it looked legitimate: Habanos sticker, Heat and Ink Stamps, Cuban seal, etc. He later, to my surprise, gave me 12 of the cigars to show his appreciation which I deposited to one of my Cuban humidors. We did smoke several of them, and though I have smoked much better Cubans, I did not scrutinize the labels since they were gifted, and he’s a good friend. My point is that I DID NOT know nor had any intentions of sending you a “fake cigar”. I have never been accused of this in my over 2 decades of cigar smoking. I do wish you had sent me a private email to explain or correct this situation, and save me the humiliation in this open forum, and probably avoid the emotions of fellow BOTL. To hopefully rectify this situation with you, I have already sent 2 ISOM’s from my own personal humidor, which I have purchased and inspected to be absolutely genuine.

Docrks: Sorry you had to involve yourself in this, and thank you for the kind words. I have sent hundreds of cigars to Our Troops, and local Firefighters of this great nation. Though all were good smokes, none were ISOM’s. I would hate to be accused of sending a fake to our Warriors. Sorry I missed the Herf...it must have been great. Stay in touch my friend.

Slim: No I wasn’t trying to test one of the “new folk’s”. I never give cigars to deceive or test fellow brothers. It was an honest mistake on my part. One that will not happen again.

Ajeroth: Point well taken and hopefully noted by some of the new folks in this great Forum. I always go by taste. One man’s great cigar is another man’s “dog rocket”. Many ISOM’s are not great cigars, and one will never know unless one tries.

TinMan51: Very nice passage, and eloquently done. I only regret that I have never been able to trade with you, for you are also a true Brother of the Leaf. Stay well!

To other fellow Brothers, my sincerest apologies to getting all of you involved in this private matter. I know I had made countless amounts of trades with all of you, and many non trades (gifts). If anyone suspects a nongenuine article from me, please email me and I will quickly rectify it.

In Closing, though my mistake is an honest one, it is still a mistake. Maybe I should inspect and scrutinize my cigars more closely regardless of where I purchase them or who gave them...not only is that not my style, but also it would take forever. Besides I always consider anything (cigars) from anybody something given with good intentions. After responding to all previous posts that I’ve missed in my absence, I will leave this Forum. I’ve had great times and gained much insight from most of you, which has made my enjoyment of cigars much better….truly one of life’s great pleasures. In the words of a good friend and BOTL , “Smoke em if you got em, because they (almost) always make more”. Hope your doing well Billy….our thoughts and prayers are with you!
Stay well everyone, and it's been a great 2 1/2 year ride.

I have several ISOM's that I have no idea if they are real, part real (From ISOM, but home rolled), or from Toledo.

I don't know you from Adam, but I don't think anyone today thought you sent out a fake on purpose.. I sure didn't.

I am now hesitant to ever send out an ISOM, in case they are not the real deals..

You don't have to send me any 'gars, emgjet. I knew you weren't trying to pull one on me, and I didn't really think it would make anyone look badly upon you as far as a trader when I posted it (but I should've thought of that).

Hear it from me, folks, that emgjet is one of the best guys on this forum and don't be afraid at all to trade with him. With the obvious exception, emgjet has sent several fine cigars, including a Partagas Serie D EL #4, a San Cristobal churchill (which was a wonderful smoke, by the way), and a RyJ Churchill.

This has turned into one big freakin' mess and I'm sorry for inadvertantly starting it. Emgjet isn't to blame, it's me, his was only a minor slip-up, mine was opening a big freakin' can of worms that got out of control here. Again, I'm sorry for all this.

By the way, the counterfeit wasn't that bad, lol. I didn't taste much like a Cuban, so I think it was just a medium-quality non-ISOM with a fake band on it. Luckily, it wasn't so green as to nauseate me.

Did anyone see the Seinfield where Kramer asked Jere to bring him back some Cubans from Fla when he went down to see his folks? And real Cubans showed up? In green fatigues? They were purportedly Cuban cigar rollers and Kramer was going to start a business venture using their skills? And in the end, it came out that they were really Dominicans? They were fake Cubans!!?? That show (Seinfield) was the best show ever made.

Haha, I remember that episode, Robby! And then Kramer tells them about Cuba and they become communist! Then, to avoid them killing him, Kramer gets them a job as crepe rollers at a French restaurant. But they roll the crepes so tight that the filling explodes out of them when you stick a fork in them! lol, the funny thing is...being rolled too tight is one of the common curses of badly-made Cubans.

Ed - If you leave I'm gonna fly out there and kick your hiney!! The vast show of support by the BOTL here should be at least a small sign of the support and desire for you to remain, and remain completely untarnished!!

If you decide you still want to part then OK, but I'm still sending return fire and we'll have to keep in contact via email! You are a true BOTL!!

emgjet,

Why would you think of leaving? Just because a newbie made a error in etiquette and dragged everyone into this post is no reason for you to leave this forum.

Although you and I have never traded, I have noticed that you are well respected and if you look closely I think that you will see that the rest of the group feels the same way.

Now with that being said, I hope you had a great vacation and I expect to see your posts in the future.

Regards.....Rocco

emgjet leaving would be the loss of a well respected brother of the leave. And if this thread is the cause, someone has some work to do to right this wrong.

I haven't seen anything in this thread that would cause emgjet to leave. Guess he just needs to move on. He has chosen not to give specific reasons at this time, and I will respect that. However, if he would, it would help the board as a whole to change it's ways and keep it's members.

IMHO

I think if we had just forgave a newbie for an honest mistake this post would have died quickly. The harder part to justify is a seasoned member lashing out and calling others "stupid" "idiot" and a "moron". Funny no slim slap for this behavior either.

I'll take a board with some newbies to break in over one where I could be attacked and abused for a mistake.

I am sick beyond words at learning that ANOTHER premier member of this forum has been driven off by the CRAP that has deluged this board in the past few months ...

DON'T make excuses ... I don't want to hear them ... frankly, I'm fed up wih hearing them ...

I've seen more than 3 DOZEN good guys leave this forum in less than a year and private communications with them confirms that they are gone because of pure unadulterad **** such as this .. .

Hey godfather1453406 --- don't they teach you to read in college? Or is it just a reading comprehension issue ...

Re-read emgjet's closing statement, or my copy of it a few posts down ...

Oh heck ... I'll post it again for you ...

Well I do take offense. Just because I am in college doesn't make me think I am any better than you or that you are any better than me. If you want to judge a book by it's cover go ahead but remember I can do it too.

Geeze godfather1453406 --- maybe it's you who needs to mature and lighten up a little ...

... and not be so sensitve, especially after I explained that it was my just my anger at the situation that came out ... and besides, my comment did not, in any way, imply that I was any better than you.

Methink you read way too much in to what people say someimes ... ;^)

If ever a thread developed to illustrate the Golden Rule, this one is it. Everyone... let's try to simply treat everyone else as we would like to be treated ourselves. Everyone will benefit from this attitude. Flame Wars are totally non-productive and bring disharmony to a great board.

godfather1453406 --- you confuse me a little ...

You state, " ... but members take cheap shots at each other and it is hard to repect everyone when his happens."

A very few people here (myself included), may take what you call 'cheap shots' at certain individuals (I still think you are being a bit insecure about it), and you find it is hard to respect 'everyone' when this happens?

You also stated, "Well you did take a shot at me by saying didn't they teach that in college and it was a reading comprehension problem. I don't care if you were 'venting' frusrations or not I read what you wrote."

Hummmmm ... you may have read what I wrote, but I still don't think you comprehended it ... sorry ...

Everyone knows (or should know by now) that the Internet is unlike most means of modern communication. The Internet is considered a 'Dead' medium, because Net communication is simply text - without any emotions!

On the Net, there is not the person to person contact that exists when using the telephone and or when conversing in person. Therefore, posts and messages can often be misinterpreted, since those reading your post can not tell your vocal inflections, body language, facial expressions and other clues to the actual meaning of what you write.

A great deal of confusion can arise because of this ... and I apologize for not stating that I was irritated when I posted my comment.
