Herf Etiquette

The Indy Herf will be my first time going to a cigar herf.

And sorry if I sound like the dumb newbie, but what exactly is the etiquette in these situations? We're meeting at a smoke shop, so do I buy smokes there or is it okay to bring some of my own?

Any special rules or customs?

Help me out here.

We've been told it's ok to BYO, but a purchase from the host shop is appropriate. You may want to bring some trading stock as well, as I'm sure someone will have something you might want to try. Other than that, NO attitudes, No hassles, No problem.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

I'll definitely bring some to trade with, and I'll buy a few from the house as well. Thanks mrmitch.

Don;t have to worry about Dan buying a few. Everytime he goes in a store his eyes light up.

Screw "like a kid in a candy shop."

The new analogy should be "like me in a smoke shop."

Usually, I bring 20 - 25 of my premiums. Usually have set aside the ones that I want to smoke and have the others to trade/gift other people at the herf. BUT.. the cigars I have set aside are also avail. if another BOTL would like it.

Would be a good idea if purchases are made from the host...

I've seen what Lowman can bring to a herf and could NOT have been more impressed. He shared with my wife and she gained a new favorite that I now stock. You never know what somebody else hasn't tried.

(Just thought I would throw that in there)

Sounds like Lowman should come to the Midwest for a herf.

Be careful what you ask for. Lowman may get you hooked on a rare stick that you have to try and find more of. ;-)

I was going to ask but was afraid of a slim slap. When you say vintage, does that imply old, or simply where it was made?

Mark,

In the case of RyJ, that's the name of one of their lines. They have the RyJ regular line and the RyJ vintage line as well as others.

Only about 750+ miles. Why don't you just drop in for a short visit at our Indy Herf on the 14th, it's only about a 10-12 hour drive. And because it's on a Sunday, plenty of drive time. See you there low........lol.

Yeah low, why don't you show up. We could meet and put more work into that G3 cigars I am working on.

the "great gars, great guys, great gear"

Also this would be my first herf too. but I would think that it would be nice to buy something from the store since he is letting us all meet there. I myself have a surprise for us when we get there.

So do we have a count on how many might be there.

Looks like 10-12 from the hits, but that dosen't include anyone bringing a friend. Put it to the test, ask for a count.
