My wife recently got me one of those beautiful Montecristo D'Arts boxes with 10 tubed cigars. Problem is, I dont'have a humidor big enough to hold it. Since the cigars are tubed will they dry out over time? What can I do to preserve them so they'll age well and won't lose their gusto? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.........Brent

I have had tubed cigars that were dried out, even when they were kept in a humidor. If you are definitely going to smoke these, you might want to pull them from the tubes and stick them in your humi.
I also got one of these for Christmas, but it was the year 2000 edition. I was told not to open it as it is a collectors edition. Any feedback on this?

I had a box of these and the bottom line is that the box is beautiful, the cigar cutter is great but the cigars SUCK BIG TIME. Better off just leaving them in their tubes (if you got the clear glass tubes 2000 edition). The cigars were well made....looked beautiful....had a great wrapper....but had absolutely no taste whatsoever.

Broker, I too was told that because it was a collector's item, not to open the tubes, and no, they are not in glass like the 2000 edition. They are in the solid tubes. I also heard that this years smokes were much better than the original, not the dog rockets of 2000....How about the questions in my original post?...Brent

I recently smoked a Grand Delacroix that I had been saving for about 7 months, out of the tube in the humi. The flavor was definitely not worth the price. Burned liked a champ though.

You need to place the cigars in a humidor. They will dry out, even in the tubes. Also remember, very few "collecters editions" become collectable. The Monte D'arts are very easy to find, which leads me to believe they are plentfull, and should be smoked not saved. Enjoy them!!

What won't fit in your humidors? The individual cigars or the whole box? If you choose to humidify the whole box, then get/make a coolerdor. Bottom line is don't let them sit in the tubular coffins. They will dry out for sure.

I am opening cigars from the glass tubes that are about two years old. They are starting to dry, so i wouldn't save them more than a year. The glass tubes will serve nicely as individual humidors for new cigars for 6 to 8 months.

As far as collector items, Berry C is correct. smoke the cigars, go to a clock shop and buy a battery operated mechanism (I don't know what they are called, but they are used on all the cheap display clocks) for about $7.00. Drill a hole in the center and mount the mechanism. Paint about 1 " of the hour and minute hand gold (they usually come in black), hang it on the wall and say "Look what I made."

Pretty funny rick, LOL. I also agree...I smoke cigars not collect them. If I can't smoke a cigar I don't want it. If I want to look at pretty "collectable" boxes with cigars in them....I'll stick a picture on my cork board.

Smoke 'em! Keep the tubes and box and if you want to gift 1 put it back in the tube and give away. I thought they were an excellently constructed cigar but a little weak in the flavor dept.
