Okay, I actually find Rush very entertaining and I respect him for his political commentaries, eventhough I'm a straight out liberal. I disagree with him on several issues and think he is misguided on some, but I have respect for him because he is a smart guy, and does his research. I can see where he is coming from eventhough we are complete opposites.

BUT, I must say his comment on Donovan McNabb is completely wrong. McNabb is all what he is cracked out to be. I have seen him keep his team in the game all by himself. He is not the greatest throwing QB in the league, but his other skills make up for it. He's like a Steve McNair, they just know how to play, and play well and know how to keep the team in the game. Just my 2 cents.

Now back to the thread.

Im not a big Rush fan, I think he is a big sh*t disturber with his grandeous, blanket statements on issues yadda yadda yadda, but yes I do think he is intellegent and well prepaired. (even if he is a dork..HA!) I have been open minded about his new gig and think for the most part he is doing ok. But his McNabb comment is what I was affraid off. Trying to blend his two worlds. I hope he rights his ship...

Now if we could only get that panty-waste Steve Young off the show...

Now just think about his comments for a few minutes guys. Do you mean that the NFL doesn't want Donavan McNabb to succeed at QB and become one of the greatest to play the game? If you believe that then you are delusional. The NFL wants him to succeed in every way. The fact that he is a black qb means that much more. It takes away some of the tarnish that there are so few black head coaches, gms, owners, etc..

I do not totally agree with Rush on this issue as I believe that Donavan is one heck of a QB, but I do think that some of his comments regarding race fits here. The NFL ownership, general managers, and coaches is still primarily a caucasian boys club.

Who said anything about not wanting an athlete to succeed?? Weather it fits or not, I dont wish to hear it on NFL Gameday. I want to hear about the games, not someones take on racism/homophobia/infidelty/drug use, what have you, in sports.

Rush was Wrong in talking down on Donovans abilities to lead a team... but he was right in saying the Media Portrays him out better then what he has seen in previous games of the season... as far as Rush pointing out he was a black man... I think his whole wording got taken clear out of Text for this Politcally Correct world we live in today... I read the artical and what Rush said, As the same as Matt read it... he was not racially calling Mcnabb out because of Color or Race... he was saying he more less has a long row to Hoe when it comes to Leading up to the NFL's Media Standards... he (Rush) was wrong in his thinking of mixing in a little political jab at the Media when it's Sports Day... kinda like his Podium had he been awarded an Emmy at the Acadamy Awards.... Wrong Place Wrong Time!!!

my .02 cents

Rush shouldn't have said what he said, not because it isn't true, because it probably is, but because in America some free speech is only tolerated well if you agree with it.

The fact that there has never been a great black NFL quarterback can't really be argued, can it? So what? There hasn't been a great Chinese or Indian one, either. None of us have any difficulty naming dozens of great black running backs. One day there will be a great black quarterback, just as finally we have a truly great black golfer. Both the media and I are rooting for it, but this guy isn't it, not yet anyway. Maybe if Rush had used my name, instead of saying 'the media,' he wouldn't have got such a hue and cry. Hardly anyone is as sensitive as 'the media' these days, except maybe for some members of this forum. No offense intended.

Warran Moon Was a Great QB!!!!!

and IMPO I think McNabb is a Hell of allot better then what they Preached Kordell going to be....

Warren could take some hits and still pull his team together and get the Win!!!!!

Kordell has had his bell rang a few times and it seems he's slipping back like that Sissy Dallas Had... Aikman!!!!! I think McNabb can keep his **** together better....

Every time race is mentioned everyone gasps. If someone thinks it is racist then put another race or color in that words place and if is is still sounds racist then it probably is. How would it be taken if someone said that about a latino, asian ,or white guy. Maybe in a different sport? Who knows, but mixing sports politics to viewers is never a good idea. Bad move, great publicity if that was his goal. Anyway, the eagles aren't going anywhere this year.

Well, espn gave him the boot...er, he 'stepped down.'

Warren Moon was amazing. Really underrated, especially when you think of the years he missed when in the CFL. UDub! If you're a northwesterner, you know what I mean.

Kordell looked like he was going to be great. But the wheels just came off. Like all sports, it's a head game. And he couldn't keep his head straight.

McNabb will be fine. The guy is a friggin' warrior. Remember the broken ankle last year? And, for what it is worth, I do think he is as good as 'they say.' Runs, passes, a leader...puts up wins. What else do you want?

Warren Moon was a good quarterback.
Johnny Unitas was a great quarterback.

Curtis Strange is a good golfer.
Tiger Woods is a great golfer.

If Moon and Strange are both great, then we need a new word for Unitas and Woods.

Nobody's mentioned Doug Williams. He hoisted a Lombardi Trophy. So did Rodney Peete. Both of them are black. So what. Mc Nair, Culpepper and Vick are massive QB's that have HUGE potential! Black, white, red, green, plaid, paisley...I don't care! I don't watch pregame shows...why should I? All they do is hype some point that might not be as big a deal as they make it out to be. I don't listen to the announcers during a game either. My favorite place to watch a game is at the local bar. The crowd is so noisy you couldn't hear The Who performing in there at the same time. They've got this monsterous screen and cold beer.

I think that Rush was trying to jab at his detractors through this "new" outlet. It was a mistake and he's gone. Don't let the door hit you on the way out! Like ANY of you really care what he had to say about football anyway! You tuned in hoping he'd say stuff like this and he did! Was it wrong? I don't know. I do know that for McNabb to finish out a game with a broken ankle was huge! He had a GREAT defense then too. The "D" is gone and for now...so are the wins. Now that the team isn't looking sooo good it's time to break out the "black" outfits and paint them as bad guys, when in fact its a team sport and blame spreads like butter on hot toast! ALL OVER!

Rush didn't say anything about McNabb, he spoke about how the media views him/reports on him. He did not say that he got his job because he is black. He did not say that he was good, bad, qualified or disqualified because he is black. His comments were in reference to the media and were taken out of context as usual.

I agree with you Robby. But I think Rush was still wrong. Not wrong to voice his opinion, its just that I dont think McNabb needs to be boosted up by the media, he IS good.

I've never noticed that about the media in any sporting event or show that I've seen though. But I'm not looking for it, so it would have to be pretty obvious.

Now, the NFL does try to promote and is very pushy about the hiring of Black coaches. Below is a little story.

When Matt Millan from the Detroit Lions found out that Steve Mariuhci(probably spelled wrong)was going to leave the Niners. He said in a press conference that he would like to have him as a coach. So would I!

In the NFL, it is now MANDATORY to interview Black coach prospects before choosing a coach. You still hire who ever you like, but must do these interviews.

Since Matt Millan still had to interview some black coaches, he made calls to a few. None would except an interview, because they had heard about Millers desire to get Mariuchi. They felt they were being used. I understand their ponts of view too.

But what isnt fair, is that Matt Millan, who did try to comply with the rules was fined $200,000 for not interviewing any Blacks. None would come!! This reverse discrimination isnt good for sports.

I truly believe in sports that MONEY is what decides just about everything. Winning a Championship is the focus. If the BEST coach is black when all the interviews are done, I believe he will get the job.

Thats why Blacks Dominate in numbers in most sports. Because they are Great atheletes! If there was any discrimination it wouldnt be this way. In fact, in the NBA the percentage of white players is VERY low.

OK, I'm finished! whew! Just my opinion... :>)
