Subject: Important Message Regarding Senator Ashcroft

TO: GOP Activist

Dear Fellow Republican:

Most Americans hoped the end of the Clinton presidency would also be
the end of the Clinton attack machine. But instead of embracing
President-Elect Bush's call for a new bipartisanship, the extreme left is
embracing the politics of personal destruction in attacking the nomination
of Senator John Ashcroft to the position of Attorney General of the United
States.

Senator Ashcroft has been praised by his fellow Senators across the
ideological spectrum as a man of the highest integrity. Yet, extreme
left-wing groups smear Ashcroft as a "racist" because his concerns about
victims' rights and upholding the death penalty led him to oppose one
African-American judge - even though Senator Ashcroft voted to confirm 26
out of 28 African-American judicial nominees put forward by the Clinton
Administration.

Senator Ashcroft needs your help. Please call, fax and e-mail the
Democratic Senators listed at the end of this letter who will be voting on
the Ashcroft nomination. Tell them that the politics of personal
destruction must stop, and urge them to support the nomination of John
Ashcroft.

Take a moment to read the truth about Senator Ashcroft by reading
the facts below and visiting our special website at
http://www.rnc.org/ashcroft.htm. Forward this e-mail to your friends and
family and encourage them to do the same. Only if enough concerned
Americans make their voices heard will we ever get beyond the partisanship
and political smear campaigns that have been all too common these last eight
years. It's time to restore dignity to our political process. Thank you
for your help.

Sincerely,

Chairman Jim Nicholson

P.S. - Please don't forget to contact these Senators, and to forward this
e-mail to as many people as you can!

on the Judiciary Committee with Ashcroft, called him 'a gentleman' who was
'invariably polite and flexible' in his handling of legislative matters."

Great information echick. I also read Rickmavens retort on the cigar board. Very interesting informatin on both sides. If all rick says is true, however, why did the liberal democrats ignore all of those "facts" and simply play the race card? I'll answer my own question...because Rick's info is NOT true! The democrats are crying foul at every turn because they LOST. They want to smear individuals to discredit their legitimacy and to downplay Dubya's selections. We need a STRONG attorney general like Ashcroft. Didn't years of shemale Reno prove that beyond a doubt? C'mon democrats, drop the party rhetoric and support the leadership to be.

Simply because they play the race card, something I abhor, does not negate the other information. Remember oj. Even though the defense attourneys had enough info to discredit the police labs, they played the race card because they knew it would work and it will continue to work until this country gets it's head on straight and starts treating people as people instead of as different color people. It's pigment not a representation of what a person is as a human being. Reno did not perform well, but she was not booted out like Mease for some sort of malfeasance. Something about some factory in NY that got special treatment. Of course if you can't make a few bucks on the side as a government employee, president, vice president, cabinet member, senator, congressman, etc, why work for such small salaries? But you better not take advantage of your position in the government to get a b**w j*b.

The issue at hand is Ashcroft. Are you insinuating that he was surping moneys from where he shouldn't? Careful with that axe, Eugene. I have been listening to some of the senatatorial debates on the Attorney General candidate and it seems that being religious is viewed as evil by the democrats. If you are against the republican party, fine. But don't smear the individual names for the sake of politics. Ashcroft is NOT a racist. His RECORD proves it. Yes, he is conservative. Was that a surprise? Disagree with his voting record, but don't condemn. The liberal Democrats seem to think that a religious minded attorney general could single handedly overturn Roe V Wade. Stop the sensationalism and get down to the issues at hand. Fact is he is eminently more qualified than Reno was, yet the republicans voted her in with 98%. Rest assured is was NOT due to her bipartisan views, but rather by theirs...
