Honestly, I do not know why this bothers people. Overbidders such as this one is what enables cigarbid to stay in business. You should be thankful that there are people out there that do this and not complain about it.

Hey, that bidder is from CA, maybe it's cheaper than retail in Cali, or maybe it's Arnold buying some victory smokes!!!! LOL

yes ... that IS less expensive than retail in CA, to say nothing of the 100-mile+ round trip a resident of River Pines would have to drive in order to get to a local store that would carry quality cigars ...

All you not living in CA don't realize how much we have to pay for good smokes if buying at a local shop. Not just the taxes, but you have the rent as well. In the Bay Area, that doesn't leave much for the dinner table. It is important to patronize the local shops to keep their doors open, but it is hard to swallow their prices when I can get so much more for a lt better price elsewhere.

^ You said it KOF, I too live in California, and paid $21.00 for a stick that retails for $9.00 via information from other BOTL in this forum. Rents here in Carmel are shutting down business left and right. A studio apartment here rents for $1,200.00 per month, yet the pay rate is the same as anywhere else.

Right ... and remember, in this guys case, he's got to drive at least 60 miles to reach ANY store that would sell something better than White Owls ... then, IF that store had Punch, they wouldn't necessarily have as broad a selection as he's getting with that sampler ...

So, he can choose between driving a lot of miles, each of which has a real expense far higher than gas alone (but even the cost of gas for a trip that long would more than double the cost of shipping in this case), and gets to choose from a more limited selection of his chosen brand then pay a higher price for it ...

OR

Bidding successfully on CBid for the variety of product that he wants and letting Brown or Uncle Sam bring 'em to his doorstep ...

Sure, he might well have liked to bid lower, but as was so correctly pointed out above, SOMEone bid him up ... compared to what he might pay in a local store in SOME areas, he overbid, but compared to what his own particular circumstances would otherwise have been for those specific cigars, I'd say he did OK

Damn. I should feel blessed. Between cigar shops and cigarette stores selling cigars, I probably have well over two dozen places to go within a 30 minute drive.
