Yeah, I can.

"Serial lying"? Give me a break. How's about the media actually giving us the REAL story! Most Iraqi's want us to stay until they're on their feet.

I mourn the soldiers that have died there, and I do believe that they were defending freedom. I don't think their actions or deeds need to be politicized. They're doing their J-O-B! They were trained to shoot and be shot at. The military is supposed to kill and destroy. In certain circumstances even act as a police force. Everyone that raises their right hand KNOWS that!

I believe that the right thing to do is to put this all in perspective. 96 soldiers have lost their lives since the official ending of hostilities. 96! I'm old enough to remember the Vietnam MIA/KIA running tally on the evening news as a kid, and there were more than that in a day! 6000 US soldiers died taking the beaches of Normandy. Now if anybody is a betting man...they can see that 96, while it is a loss it isn't enough to warrarnt the media outcry to bring our boys home. Their job would be 1/2 over and they'd have to go back at a later date to fight a stronger opponent. Did we not learn this hard lesson in Lebanon? Did we not learn this in Somalia? Did we No, this is a jab at the President pure and simple. This is some twisted way to get revenge for "stealing" an election. Let's get past the fraud that's being perpetrated as "reporting".

I'd also add that what price can you put on a country that has free elections with a democracy in THAT region of the world? Talk about modeling for Iran,Saudi Arabia(which is "supposedly" going to have!)Syria and Jordan. Once the people's joy of living unoppressed get to those countries you won't be able to stop freedom from spreading!

The eventual stop to the abject poverty that's been ramrodded down generation after generation would stop and they'd start behaving like human beings instead of walking time bombs killing each other and taking multiple numbers with them. They'd have a chance to actually succeed because of their own merit. They would have a staked interest.

I'd like to see that. Without "cutting the head" we'll never have that. I'm wise enough to see that, and I'm patient enough to see this through.

Names can be found in virtually no other place? The soldier from Rice Lake Wisconsin was on in the local news stations when he died.

Whats with the soldier (number 2 on the list) that died from grabbing power lines?

Hog, just heard on NPR on the drive home that hundreds of these letters were written by a small group of gi's and sent using others' names to newspapers throughout the country. I am sure there will be more to it than this brief description.

Rick, I read that ABC link. I likened it the "hometown progress report" that they had us fill out in basic training. It was an add with our picture sent to the soldiers hometown newspaper of choice(as some larger towns have 2-3 papers)that listed our military achievements. It was placed next to the wedding and obituary columns. I'm not sure if they still do that today...Very rarely read a newspaper.

Anyway, they had a form letter, and you could add to it if you wanted. I don't see the big harm in it, but if I was going to authorize my name to a letter, then you better believe that I'd write the whole thing!

i wish you were all in the captains office when i was ordered to sign a security clearance to obtain my secret clearance. many other officers were there to watch the "procedings" including the commanding officer. i was given a direct order to sign it so i signed it "under direct order, rick miller."

they thought they had a commie spy. i just didn't want to take the daily bus trek to the other end of the base. i was on guam and it was too hot and sticky in the bus.

the upshot of the entire affair was that the form i signed ended up in my in basket to file in my 201 file where to this day it can't be found.
