Just saw this on tv. A contestant on the Wheel of Fortune tv show won $48,000.oo and was given a hug by Pat Sajack. He is now suing Pat Sajack and the shows two producers for $2,000,000.oo claiming that the hug caused severe damage to his back. Only in Kookafornia, LOL JonR

My wife said she heard about this on FOX. They said that Pat jumped up on the guy, then wrapped his legs around him, which would have put all his weight on him.

There wasnt any video of this. It doesnt seem like something Pat would do, we'll see.

I'll bet the guy wouldn't be suing if Vanna had done it.

Here's the URL for the complete story in the Washington Post.

If the facts in the case are correct, this fellow seems to have a solid course of action. A court could interpret Sajak's exaggerated action toward the contestant as a battery, if this were a criminal suit.

Remember that a simple battery is the touching or use of force on a person without the person's specific consent; not an assault, which by definition is an act that puts a person in immediate danger or in fear of harm or contact.

I'd be surprised if it made it to trial. Merv Griffin would be stupid not to settle.
