right, I got my box, very quickly, today of the torpedo flor de oliva maduro. These are suppose to be 6 x 52, but even as a box press, I think they were very liberal giving it this 52 guage, almost like a torpedo corona. Then there was this astounding new warning on the box, the first time I have seen it, it read, "Cigars are not a safe alternative to cigarettes". Says who? Who the hell is making cigar companies put this propaganda on the box?! Is this a left over from the Clinton tobacco bashing? I think it is atrocious. I will email CI and see if they know anything. Thank God Bush and sympathetic tabacco people are in the white house now, for if Unkle Bill's choice was there, it wouldn't have been long before buying cigars over the internet would have been history, as well as walk-in humidors at the tobacconist, both were recently under serious consideration to be outlawed, as you may know from Cigar Aficianado (not to mention in the least higher taxes on cigars). Anyway my main point is the warning label, the rest can be written off as a procduct of a disordered mind.

i don't think clinton can be blamed for everything. i saw a pack of cigarette's in the bahamas with a skull and cross bones on it and the saying something like these can kill you or cause cancer of the lips, lungs, and throat. it was some local brand, so someone else must have some heavy duty unhappiness with the little buggers. will you pick on bush if he allows youngsters easier access to cigarettes?

sounds like a warning off a box of cigars you would buy in canada. our cigarette packs also have little pictures of lung disease, teeth problems and other nasties that result from smoking. doesn't stop me though

Wasn't it the Gore Campaign who handed out cigarettes to potential voters????? As for the size of the Oliva, I have noticed that they are quite a bit smaller than the stated ring guage. I guess they were measured while still loosely rolled (?). As for the label, who cares? The boxes also state that the product contains chemicals "known to the state of California" to cause cancer. Why doesn't California share their findings? Or is it only when Smoked in Calif that the problems occur?

but I don't live in California do I? They can keep their known nasty chemicals, here in Colorado, where we have plenty of electricity, cigars were fine, until this stupid warning popped up, I am just wondering who is behind the propaganda with the new warning.

Personally, I like the warnings on lars tetens cigars. Being a california company, he decided a little tounge in cheek would suffice. All his products carry a shull and crossbones with the moniker"Smoke this and Die"

Aberdeen: Send a few of those my way. I need to test my latest theory on measuring the ring gauge on box-pressed cigars.
