not sure if Cigar Afficianado is competition, but is seems safe by my "reasonable judgement"..
Thought I would mention to anyone wanting a subscription, that I, and prolly many other, get the advertisements in the mag for a 2 for one subscription for $19.95 for their Christmas Special.

That rag sucks!

The ratings are bought and paid for and they try to compare Cuban to domestics in head-to-head competition. Now I know if you want a Cuban you can get one, but to try and compare them? Sorry. There is a different profile, and in most cases the Cuban cigars are a bigger dissapointment. The "forbidden fruit" factor is what drives the Cuban market to extreme pricing, not a better product! Also, 75% of that rag is advertisements. There are MUCH better magazines that cater to our "hobby" than CA. They just happen to have the name, and the money to throw around to get a better cover!

Check out Smoke magazine. It has ads, but not as many as CA. The reviews are genuine. They smoke 'em all too. Primos, MOTR and even the lower end. They call them the way they see them and aren't afraid of their opinions. Refeshing. I don't have a sub. to it, but I pick it up and read it occasionally.

I get both magazines. I like Smoke mag better. buffallo isnt this special for Christmas gift subscriptions only? I think thats what the deal is.

Maddvibe, you are right. In my experience, I've been dissapointed more often than not with cuban smokes. Also on cA, the advertizing is geared toward the rich. Smoke mag caters more to the middle class in my opinion. Which I bet most of us are.
