I just wanted to take this opportunity before I hit the sheets tonight to say thanks to all you Vets out there. Whether you are retired or "still serving," you deserve more than one day of recognition.
I wasn't able to serve, but I try to do what I can to support our troops. Good luck and God bless you and your families where ever you may go.

You beat me too it. Anyway, thank you all for your service to this beautiful country. I said this before in another thread, but I'll say it again now.

I can sleep well at night because rough men (and women) are ready to do violence on my behalf.

Although, this is to all of you who serve, whether it's holding a rifle, a bible, a scalpel, or a pen… thank you.

Mega Hooah to all the veterans on this day. It is because of your sacrifices that my family, liberties and freedoms (so many take for granted) are protected. God Bless you and protect you.

With all the rhetoric about everyone saying they support and stand by the troops, it sure was disappointing to see so few flags flying this morning as I left the neighborhood. I live in a small subdivision of about 100+ homes and I don't think I saw two flags (mine included)...yes, this is a free country blah blah blah and people can be patriotic without displays, but actions, in my book, still speak louder than mere words. I admit I don't have a flag flying or taped to my truck nor do I wear any lapel pins, but on just this one special day of the year, I make damn sure to back up my patriotism by honoring those that made the ultimate sacrifice. Just my thoughts. Flame away if you must.

If you want to see the deeds veterans have done to keep us free, check out:

http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm

Read a couple of the stories, they’ll bring a tear to your eye. The love these men show for their fellow soldier is a model for us all. I frequent this site and read the stories... there's so many! War polarizes humanity… brings out the worst, but also highlights the best.

What’s sad is, ask the average citizen who the last person(s) to win the Congressional Medal of Honor was, and they wont be able to tell you… but ask them who’s Britney Spears’ latest fling is and they’ll answer before you’re finished.
