i know there have been many threads about cellophane wrappers and whether or not to remove them before storing, but my question is will they help keep cigars from "marrying" with neighboring cigars of different brands. if you think cigars of different brands should never be kept in the same humidor...too bad, i gotta do it. i'm just asking if the wrappers will help, or do i have to get several dividers.

yes, cellophane will keep cigars from marrying each other, however, the tobacco within the cigar (the filler, binder & wrapper) will marry within the cellophane.

I have read extensively on this the accepted theories are as follows:
1) The celo wrappers are designed to maintain the original packing humidity while in shipment. Personally I think they should be removed as soon as you get the cigars.
2) The ideal storage for the cigar is no celo and in the cedar box it came in.
3) Singles in a humidor will not marry even when placed next to one another. I know I'll get alot of flack on this but I have aged Monte's right next to Bahia 93 maduros for 3 years and have noticed no marrying of the flavors at all. I think the humidor companies came up with the marrying idea so they could sell more dors.
4) Cigars left in celo in boxes wrapped in celo will definitely not age properly. I have on occassion opened a celo wrapped box that I bought where I know the box was stored in a walk-in dor at perfect conditions to find dry crispies inside. If the cigars were wrapped dry then thats how they stay. No way humidity can get through all that celo.
That's my take on matters guys.......fire away...while I take cover.

I like Gulf's opinion on this subject...You made some very good points Gulf...I wholeheartedly agree, especially the point about the marketing scheme to make us purchase more humidors...LOL..and I also have never noticed any of my cigars (ALL non-flavored) marry even though I also keep all of my singles in one dor (except for just recently I put all my ISOMS in a separate dor)
