Hey Guys,
I awoke to the phone ringing this morning. It was my boss on the phone, calling me to let me know that I was no longer needed at the resturant. Since starting there, I have won awards, both for my food, steaks and smoked ribs, and for hospitality. I really love people. Her money always gets tight this time of year, so I guess she needed to lighten the Load.
Tis the season Huh.
I am so happy that I don't have a family to support during this. But I am depressed today. I had pretty much depleted my savings, because of a medical condition, just a month ago, when I missed a month of work. I am afraid that she noticed how smoothly things went while I was gone, I have had a great staff, that has, for the last year, needed very little by way of supervision. I guess there is such a thing as having too well trained a staff. I think I may have trained my replacement. Bummer huh. Well the economy is getting better. Anybody want to hire a cook, who also builds and repairs computers for a hobby?

P.S.Thanks for letting me vent.

That sucks. And it was a gutless way to tell you.
The City of Cleveland has a 62 mill. deficit. So they decided to lay off 400 police, 200 fire fighters, and 50 of us paramedics. At least I have enough seniority.

Don't worry, with your resume, someone will snatch you up quick.

My wife got fired by email once. She hadnt logged on for a couple days and went into work as usual. Her gutless boss's jaw dropped and he turned ashen.

He did her a favor. Her next job was with good people and more pay. I wish the same for you, HB.

Hey Guys, thanks for the kind words. I am going to spend time with my family, Mother, father, both sisters, and misc. aunts uncles and cousins. Hopefully I can light a fire under my brother in law, and get him off high center on the cigar bar he is wanting to open.

That's a bummer. The same thing happened to a good friend of mine, also a chef. Damn cutthroats!

I have hired and fired people for several years. Anytime I have had to let someone go, for any reason, I have always informed them in person. I would hate to work for someone who fires by phone or e-mail and feel that I owe a level of respect to the person I am letting go to talk to them personally. I feel sorry for someone who works for a boss that doesn't have the courage to speak to them in person. Hang in there Dave, with your attitude a better position is bound to open up for you.

Dave, I know what you're going through. Same thing happened to me last fall - during the low point in the job market. Things got really tight but then I finally found a job and now it's WAY better than it ever was before. I'll pray for the same for you and will always keep some extra gars for you should you need them!

Hey Guys,
My attitude is improving. I believe that this may work out for the best. I have been visiting with family, for the last 24 hours, and have some great leads, though not in my field. My family has assured me that, with my personality, and life experiences, and education, I should have no problem following the leads to a better paying job.
Thanks for your kind words.

Hey bud,
Sorry to hear of the bad go of it, but you may find out that there is a better road for you.
I used to think that I needed the job I used to have 10 years ago, then I decided I would put some applications out to see if I could do better.
Once word got around that I was looking, the calls start to come in with offers.
I settled on the job I have now.
Wish you the best of luck, remember the saying, "This too, will change." :)

Dave,

Sorry about the job loss, that really sucks. Especially this time of year. Your boss sounds like a weasel.

Keep your head up. I'm sure something good will come out of this. Let us know if there is anyway we can help.

Dave, I am very sorry to hear about this. But make the most of it - while you're looking for a new position use the time off to do that stuff we all say we'll do "some day when I have more time".

You also might want to try putting up some flyers advertising your PC repair skills at places like community bulliten boards, super markets, etc. Many people have PCs but few actually know how to repair them. And if I ever find myself in AK looking for a chef or caterer, I'll be sure to give a holler

I would love for the Hot Springs thing to work out, but that will take awhile. I have signed up with a Temp agency, while I get together a Resume. I will be calling a friend of Russells this week, but the temp agency has had me working, every day, so far. It's a drop in pay, but it will keep the bills paid, so I don't have to dip into savings. Things are gonna be alright. Kind of reminds me of when I first moved up here, adjusting to the lower wage scale here in Arkansas was tough the first time, but now I have friends, who can help out, at least with Moral support.
Thanks Guys, Like I said, things are looking up.
