I am looking at buying a Digital Video Camera for the family for Xmas this year. Any hints on:

*- Technologies
*- Good Manufacturers
*- Must have funtions
*- Nice to have functions
*- Unnecssary functions- (aka ripoffs)
*- websites with good info

I’ve used two video cameras to make training videos in my martial art. I have experience with two of them.

First is the Sony. I don’t remember the model number, but I absolutely loved this camera. I picked it up, pointed it at my teacher and it shot beautifully.

Second was a JVC. I’ve been using this camera for a year now and I’ve yet to shot good pictures with it.

I’m looking to get one and I will be picking up either a Sony or a Cannon.
