Welcome aboard,

My first suggestion would be to go to the Trade Boards and look for the "Newbie Sampler" post from smithbw. Contact smithbw to join in on the fun. Its a mentoring program where seasoned veterans help the newbies out on what type of cigars to smoke. Since there are three of you gals, then you will make three veteran old-timers very happy to help you out.

Enjoy.

Welcome aboard gals. Great group of people these cigar smokers. Friendly, generous, and pretty wicked wit at times. I'm kind of a newbie too and one of my favorite past times was/is trying out different cigars. It's a lot of fun. So far my favorites are Torano, Padron, and Indian Tabac. However YMMV. You can find all of these here on the bid section and often in the trade section for really decent prices. My wife smoke cigarettes but will occasionally take a puff off my gar(grin) from time to time. She likes the Drew Estate cigars because they have a unique auromatic smell to them. They are a nice change of pace. Anyway, have fun.

Welcome gar_gals!

I Recommend the CAO golds. Indian Tabac Limited Reserve is good for newbies too. Both of those are mild and have great flavor.

I would also try some sampler packs. You get a good variety of smokes. That way you can try a lot of brands without spending too much. Good luck!

Welcome to the boards gar_gals!

There are a ton of good cigar otuo there. Teh best advice that I can give you is to keep a cigar journal. This way you have a record of the cigars that you like and dislike. Make sure that you are very specific on details to. That way when you review your journal you may run across a cigar that you didn't fully enjoy when you first started, but may end up liking once you've been smoking them for a year or so.

As to suggestions, my wife enjoys H. Upmans, Don Diegos, and Drew Estates - from the Natural line - Root. Drew Estate blends many different tobaccos into a single cigar. They are very aromatic and very tasteful!

I enjoy anything from the Arturo Fuente Hemmingway line such as Best Seller, Short Story, Classic, and Signature. I find the Signature the best for me. I also like the Roots, Torano Signatures, all CAOs (but I will caution you that CAO is rather strong at first except for the Cameroons). I also enjoy Gurkhas, H. Upman Maduros, any Arturo Fuente Maduro cigar, Padron Maduro cigars, Padron Anniversary cigars are excellent.

There are a few to tempt you with.

Enjoy and let us know what you think of them!

Welcome Ladies and as for Cigars to try I think all the other posts covered a good share of the cigars out there except maybe for the A/F Sungrown's which are very good and rich with flavor as are the Ashton Aged Maduros but these because of the price are many times just for a treat..As for the lower priced Cigars you have heard about most of the decent ones already. Try the Bucanero maduro lines. Reasonable price and great Tasting..TinMan

Welcome gals!
Good choice with the Gurkha and CAO Black. they are two of my faves. My .02 on suggestions are:
AVO
CAO
Torano
Gurkha
Montesino Sun Grown
Padron
Puros Indios
La Perla Habana
All are great construction, even burn and good spectrum of tastes, medium in price, easy to obtain, etc.

What? Are they exempt due to gender...... Don't forget to send Steve a cigar.

Now that's out of the way... Welcome to the board. Good to have more balance out there. Marla was getting a little overworked here.

I agree with the sampler and 5 pack idea. Great way to discover what makes you happy.

Hello and welcome aboard! I personally prefer milder cigars, and my humi is stocked with Habana Gold Churchills, CAO Brazillia Sambas (not the mildest), Arturo Fuente Brevas, Cuesta Rey Centanarios No. 5's, Ashton Panatelas (probably my favorites), Montecristo #1's (Cuban), Jose Piedras Naturales (Cuban), H.Upmann Especiales (Cuban) and Quintaro Brevas (Cuban). I highly recommend anything made by Fuente, whiuch includes the Dominican Montecristos, Cuesta Reys, and Ashtons.

I've never heard anyone speak of the Habana Golds.

CWFoster is correct, Habana churchills are great! Especially on the golf course! 1 for the front nine, one for the back nine! And the price is GREAT!

I just smoked my first Brazilia Samba too. Wow, what a smoke! It's medium to full bodied, and VERY smooth and flavor packed! I've had the Gol, it's good too, but it's not as good as the Samba for my taste though.

Welcome Aboard Gals!

Hmmmm, recommendations for Mild Cigar? That is a tough one, as tastes are subjective. What might be mild to me might not be mild to another. However, since you asked for recommendations here are mine:

Candela - Astral - Green But Mild
Fuente - Natural
El Rey Del Mundo
Bucanero Crew and Classico Maduro

Wrapper makes up about 75% of the taste. Therefore, look for Conn. wrappers or natural.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

B

Probably more smart@$$ then smart.

Lots of good recommendations here. I would try the Acids. The are very unique.

Also the best advise as said above would be to go to the newbie trade thread. That way you can try lots of different things and find out what you like.

gar_gals . . .hopefully not to late to add my 2 cents - - don't overlook some brands that are labeled 'full flavored'..full flavored does not always mean...to doggone strong to deal with..that is what I though until trying the following examples - - which peaked my curiosity from things I had read about them: Partagas Black Magnifico and the La Gloria Cubana Serie R, #6 and #7...although the La Gloria might be a bit intimidating by size (#6 is a 6x60)..they all are (IMHO) a very excellent smokes. Enjoy! p.s - did someone mention pictures? :)
