interesting you mentioned guam. i was there for 18 months from 53 to 54. i was at the first bar that had tap beer. there were still some japanese soldiers hiding in the jungles. i still have "jungle rot" in my ears that flairs up every so often.

i th9nk the humidity was over 100% every day and we had to keep our clothes in a locker with a light bulb that was always on to prevent mold.

i only spent a half a day on iwo jima waiting for a flight to continue to tachikawa, the golden r&r spot for any 21 year old. beautiful girls.
