pete rose finally admits to gambling on BaseBall, well no **** sherlock who would have guessed that. charlie gambler said " well i started gambling on BasketBall then FootBall and then well when FootBall and BasketBall season was over i just had to bet on BaseBall after all i'm an american i couldn't bet on Hockey ( God forbid ). Also it took me ten years to tell the truth because i'll decide when the truth will be told, plus i have a new book coming out and i have to dredge up old news to hype my book. chucky gambler lier rose, don't go away mad just go the hell away ! I agree with Huskey ...

Pete deserves to be in the HoF, based on achievement ... and deserves to be banned from any and all other participation in the game ...

Pete Rose deserves nothing. He was stubborn and thought he didn't need baseball. He pretty much spat in the face Baseball. He thought he could live without the honors. He was an idiot. He was arrogant. For 14 years, everyone knew he committed the biggest sin in sports by gambling, but he would not come clean. So when Pete Rose understood that his eligebility for the Hall was coming to a end in a year, he tries to pull a fast one and says, "hey I could be an a$$hole for all this time and now all I have to do is admit I gambled, and everyone will be fine with it". I say let him pay for his mistake and his stubbornness and his arrogance. If Baseball feels pity, then let him in, but he deserves nothing. I would put Shoeless Joe Jackson in the Hall of Fame way before I put Charlie Hustle in.

As long as he never bet against his own team, I don't have a problem with his gambling. And yes Robby, he was one of the greats.

So he lied for the past decade about not betting on baseball why should we believe he never bet against his own team? Because he said so!

He still deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Everyone that visits the hall will know what Pete did and he still has to live with that until he lays to rest. As a baseball purist, who will pass his record?

I am an ardent baseball nut who has maintained that Charlie Hustle belongs in the HOF; however, his latest barfing admitting to betting on baseball is an insult to the fans and players! He did not really apologize for his actions! God only knows if this guy had not had this talent he would have been a street thug or some other kind of low life! But, he is one of the greatest of all time and deserves to be in Hall of Fame, but his monument should say, "He defiled the game by gambling on the great sport of baseball"!

Now, let Pete crawl back under his rock!

I agree chucky the lier slimeball rose should have a place in the Hall of Fame however instead of a bronz bust it should be a bronz statue of chucky squatting over a baseball while taking a crap. That way the young children visiting the Hall will know the real rose. JonR

Pete Rose is an arrogant a$$ ... but he IS the all-time hits leader and as such, he really should be accorded recognition in the HoF ...

My take is that Pete is coming clean (or as clean as he's likely to get) at this late date since he has suddenly realized that next year is the last that he can be voted into the hall by the sports writers ... after that, he can only get in by a vote from the Veterans Committee ... and, while Pete has always been popular with the fans and with the press, his fellow players seem to view him as if he had a case of the bubonic plague ... the Veterans Committee will never vote him in and he knows it ...

Great point, as Pete is hated by the players and the Veterans Committee will never let his sorry a$$ inside the Hall without buying a ticket and going in as a visitor! Yes, he does deserve to be in Hall, but with a different kind of marker....stating that he was banned from the great game for 14 years!

Let's reform the Hall of Fame!

Let's weed out the drug abusers.
Let's ban the wife beaters.
Let's remove the spit-ballers and bat-corkers.

But until we do, Pete Rose BELONGS in the hall of fame. Whether we feel he is deserving or not...
