great movie to watch with kids. close up filming of birds in flight. on the dvd it has a short movie also showing how the birds were imprinted and the ultra lites they used to film the birds flying right next to them. there was a movie about some girl who taught geese to follow her and she flew an ultra lite to help the birds migrate. winged migration is more of a documentry.

The movie about the girl with the geese was called "Fly away home", with Anna Paquin and Jeff Daniels. A real tear jerker.

I saw Winged Migration, the best movie I saw last year. I hope it gets the Documentary Oscar. It includes scenes of geese landing on a French war ship to rest. One goose getting caught in an oil slick in Holland and getting left behind when the flock takes off without it. Geese migrating through the Himalayas. Breeds of waterfowl I never knew existed. I highly recommend this film.

I forgot to add... I believe it is available on video, but if you get a chance to see it on the big screen, you won't regret it.
