Why Billy Made Us Feel Better

I have often reflected as to why Bill Clinton became the President back in 1993. He succeeded not only once in being the leader and chief of our country and military, but twice. Clinton was a master at making many feel like he was one of 'us.' It has often been said that when one of the Clinton's, either Bill or Hillary, talk with you that they make you feel as they are truly in tuned to you and just you. A great accomplishment they both have mastered well.

Bill came from simple and humble beginnings. He lost his father in an auto accident 3 months prior to his birth. His mother remarried and Bill's childhood was found to be that of the common boy, not a 'pretty boy' life style growing up in mansions with servants, but a simple life, which included learning to play the saxophone well.

A young Bill Clinton was a member of the Boys Nation in high school. As a delegate for the Boys Nation, Clinton met John F. Kennedy while visiting the White House Rose Garden and from that moment he knew that he wanted to dedicate his life to politics. In 1975 he married Hillary Rodham and they both shared the same goals in life, directed towards political accomplishments they both aspired to.

At the time of the presidential race of 1992 our county had become comfortable, very comfortable. Most of us felt safe, secure and content. There wasn't anything in particular to stand for, or against. We loved our country, but patriotism was not a necessity, it was more of a level amongst Americans that, 'Ya, my life is good and Monday Night Football is on in one hour.'

Nothing wrong with the feeling of all is well. Absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying Monday Night Football. Hey, many voted for President Bill Clinton, because you could invite him over for a beer, bratwursts on the grill, and nachos for a night of football and poker with the guys. He became our president due largely to this fact; he made the American people at large feel comfortable with themselves and their lifestyles.

Let us reflect here for a moment. Bill, is a man's man, a regular guy who knew how to have a good time. He could smoke a Cuban cigar, shoot the breeze, kick his heels up as he blew on his sax, chase women, smirk, laugh, lie, jog and still eat at McDonald's, steal, make you feel like he connected with you on your level, and have us believe all of it…hook, line and sinker. That made many men not only in the Democrat party feel good about their own sins, but it made many of those men who had become apathetic feel good about their sins as well. After all how bad should I feel for checking out my secretary when the President of the United States is getting himself some while on the phone to Yasser Arafat? And big deal if I didn't report all my expenses on my IRA form last year, heck the Clinton's say they can't find half of their papers on White Water. Yes, President Bill Clinton made us feel somehow better about our lives and ourselves; he gave many a sense of self-righteousness. I can proclaim I believe in God, and I can still skew the facts, just like our President does.

As for many of the women, who had become apathetic like many of the men, they loved their Billy. For many of them and he still does, President Clinton was the little impudent 4th grade boy who would get into trouble. But, he was so darn cute, you wanted to spank him and scold him, but instead you ruffled his sandy blonde hair and hugged the stuffin out of him, telling him, 'Now let's not do that anymore, okay? Now be a good boy, here's your tootsie roll pop, go out and play.' Drip, drip… This is the way many females feel and felt about Bill Clinton. He was that naughty precocious boy, but he knew how to work a crowd and smile that smile, just so, to make all their hearts go aflutter.

President Clinton obviously made us all feel better about ourselves. He was one of us, a sinner, but he was able to wiggle his way out of any situation by being incorrigible. And the comfortable American public at large, was just fine with that. We certainly didn’t feel we were in any imminent danger of being attacked at home or abroad, so let's continue our 'Miller Time!'

Evil crouching, lurking and hiding behind our apathy put into motion a single moment of altercation for all of us who live here. Whilst having our good times, it would be in the early morning hours after dawn, the first high jacked airplane would hit the Twin Towers in New York City. Next came the Pentagon in Washington DC and lastly it would be Flight Number 93. Flight 93 was diverted by heroes and crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. It was this horrific loss of over 3,000 souls that would change America's perception, at least for the time being, or as long as the public at large remembers their history, of how comfortable we were with our apathetic status. 9-11

Hence, the wave of how we view what we need in Washington to guide us became important. We needed Bush, a man who has Character. A man who is steadfast and who has a deep sense of doing what is right no matter what gets written or said about him. President Bush is someone, who stands with the strength of a towering oak, able to withstand stoically the darts that are hurled at him. Unlike Bush's predecessor, who was someone that was made of silly putty, bendable and easily formed into the shape of waffles.

President George W. Bush has become what America needed in a time when we became legitimately scared of our enemy. Our enemy of freedom has been lying in wait for many years, years prior to the Clinton Administration, but as it so often occurs with the human condition-the enemy and their evil was kept from us-'out of sight, out of mind'. The graffiti marks were evident all through the Clinton administration, but we all were having our Mardi Gras. The band Fleetwood Mac kicked off the newly elected President Clinton's Democrat party in '93 with 'Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow' as if we all could just relax now and continue to enjoy our riches unfettered. We were wrong, all of us were wrong. Our wake up call went off along time ago, and for some reason we all slapped the alarm button and just rolled over and went back to sleep.

Now in 2004, we as a country fined ourselves at the beginning run of our next presidential election. Many ask why is Howard Dean appearing to be the front runner for the Democrat party? Why have Al Gore and Bill Bradley endorsed this former Governor of Vermont? Why the love fest for Dean, but not Lieberman, Kerry, Edwards, Clark…?

All one needs to do is reflect back to the thoughts previously stated in the beginning of this article. Dean claims humble beginnings, yes we know he had servants, but he treated them well. Dean comes across as a man who shoots straight from the hip. He's a guy you'd have a beer with down at 'Cheers', or invite him over for Monday Night Football (don't forget the bratwurst and nachos). He'd pull a great poker face on game night with the guys and bluff his way through the very last round. He knows how to come across and relate to the common guy. His Internet grass roots campaign is awe-inspiring. Dean out of all the Democrat runners comes across the most as a 'Clintonisk' good 'ol boy, with a sideways grin that melts the heart of all liberal leaning women. He is confident, cocky, and I don't know, but probably plays some musical instrument or a reasonable fact simile of.

I will be very surprised if Howard Dean isn't the pick up the Democrat party. He is the most likened to former President Bill Clinton and makes those who are still needing a scapegoat to make themselves feel less sinful and more like a regular person. Remember he now recognizes that Southern people are not only Confederate flag flyers, but they are also religious, hence Dean has found God. His character isn't high. He waffles, changing his stance pending on which way the wind blows. Some call it, trying to be all things to all people, but I call it lying and pandering.

Dean served sometime in the military, but was injured and came home and went skiing instead. Kerry served in the military lost several friends in the war and has a defined belief system, but even though I disagree with his politics, he shows too much seriousness of how he believes our country should run, and appears to have something called character. Lieberman and Gephardt have been insiders in Washington too long, this makes the newer generation of voters most uncomfortable. One must say though that Lieberman is another runner who at least as a strong belief system and character. As for Clark, he reportedly is the Clinton's darling. Yes, General Wesley Clark served his country, but I wonder if he took a bullet in the brain of flip-flopping. Another who panders to whom ever and whichever way the wind is blowing at the moment. Clark without character as well, comes across as a strong military man who can curse right along with John Kerry. It appears to some political talking heads, that Clark, may be the only one who could take the prize away from Dean. As far as Edwards, his belief system is wrong, but he has too much character to be the Democrats representative. The other runners have due to finances and/or other dilemmas become non-competitors.

The moods of those who continue to support Democrat ideals have not implanted themselves back into the believing fabric of the majority of Americans as of yet. It took a disaster, someone attacking our freedom on our soil, for us to become patriotic again and stand for something. That something is called Character, and it does matter. Will there come a time again in the future when, it will once again not be Character that matters? Will there come a time, when once again it will just be 'the economy stupid?'

Yes, my back pocket matters just as much to me as it does to all of you, but there is more to my wallet than just money. There is the foundation of principals that our great country was founded upon, founded upon by great thinking men with real character. Americans can no longer afford to think of just us and our almighty dollar only. Without a fight against the evil of terrorism, we will never be able to have a strong, safe and sound economy. We will never be able to rebuild the Two Towers stronger than before. We will never be able to bring our troops home. We will never be able to fly without fear again. We will never be able to look our children and grandchildren straight in the eye and say that we did all we could do to make your tomorrow brighter, safer, and stronger if we become apathetic again. We must now in our Nation take up arms and stand on good Character just as Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, Kennedy, Reagan and even Dubya have. It is our legacy of Character that will carry this nation through for generations to come the way it should be, as a Republic filled with opportunity and freedom for all.

interesting. Can't say I voted for slick willy though. At some point the dems will realize that they have lost a large portion of the common everyday middle-class man. Many of us who drink beer, shoot pool, hunt and fish can't relate to them dems. Look at all the popular country songs that came out after 911. All the country artists that have gone out East to entertain the troops. Who listens to this type of music?? It sure ain't the rich folks and not many of the big city folks either.

I guess this guy sums up alot of what I've been trying to say in many of my posts. I don't want a President as good as I am. Hell, he'ld better be a LOT better than that! And what he said about not just voting the pocketbook! This fight is for ALL the marbles, and if we can walk away from it..... We deserve what we get!
