many of us know what these words mean, but what do you perspnally think is the difference between the two.

for example, i must have that woman in bed, i would call an obsession.

i must have that woman in bed even though she has aids, i would call fanaticism

The chicken and the pig were discussing Farmer John. The chicken said "You know, Farmer John has been so good to us, maybe we should make him some bacon and eggs for breakfast."

The pig's beady little eyes grew large. "Hey, for you that's only a little pain in the ass, but for me it's a total commitment!" he squealed.

The way I see it, Rick, the chicken was a fan of Farmer John's, but the pig was not crazy enough to want to become his breakfast. Your aids example was insanity, not fanaticism.

Rick disagrees with President Bush = Obsession.

Rick tries to justify his position by crying about a "stolen election" = fanaticism.

I'm sorry the sinus meds are kicking in, the WOAM is rockin so I had to....

A farmer had 5 female pigs and times were getting tough, so he went to the country fair to sell his pigs. At the fair, he came across a farmer who had 5 male pigs. After talking a bit, they decided to mate the pigs and split everything 50/50. The two farmers lived 60 miles away from each other so they agreed to each drive 30 miles, and find a field to mate their pigs.

The first morning, the farmer with the female pigs got up at 5:00 am., loaded the pigs into the family station wagon, which was the only vehicle he had left, and drove the 30 miles. While the pigs were going at it, he asked the other farmer, "How will I know if they're pregnant?"

The other farmer replied, "If they're in the grass grazing in the morning, then they're pregnant, if they're in the mud, then they're not.

The next morning they were rolling in the mud so he hosed them down, loaded them again into the family station wagon and proceeded to try again.
The following morning, MUD again! This continued all week until one morning the farmer was so tired that he couldn't get out of bed.

He called to his wife and said, "Honey, look outside the window and tell me if the pigs are in the mud or in the field."

"Neither one," yelled his wife, "They're in the station wagon and one of them is beeping the horn!"

Tailgater nailed it,only I'll edit one small detail he left out.

Rick disagrees with President Bush (on everything he's ever done) = Obsession.

Rick tries to justify his position by crying about a "stolen election" = fanaticism.

Yeah, I guess Laura isn't the class act that Hillary is.

The main reason Chelsea didn't get into trouble is she's so dang ugly she had no friends to pal around with. Which was too bad for Bubba, because he could have had a slumber party with them.

Those twins are doing nothing more than demanding their independence. For most teens, they stay out past curfew. When the Secret service is on your tail 24/7, I guess the bar is raised somewhat.

But we can't all be as perfect as the some Liberals want us to be.

Sorry.
I must appologize for the previous post. Chelsea's looks are irrelevant and I should not have stooped to the level of the liberal-low.

I'm sure she's a fine gal.
Despite her parents.

Obsession
ob.ses.sion \a:b-'sesh-*n, *b-\ \-'sesh-n*l, -*n-*l\ \-e-\ n 1: a persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling 2: an emotion or idea causing such a preoccupation - ob.ses.sion.al aj

Fanaticism
fa.nat.i.cism \f*-'nat-*-.siz-*m\ n : fanatic outlook or behavior

Better still:

Fanatic
fa.nat.ic \f*-'nat-ik\ \-i-k*l\ \-i-k(*-)le-\ \-k*l-n*s\ aj [L fanaticus inspired by a deity, frenzied, fr. fanum temple] : marked by excessive enthusiasm and intense uncritical devotion - fanatic n

Two completely different words, to wit:

Radical Islamic fanatics are obsessed with violence.

On the other hand:

Rick is obsessed with GWB, of whom he is a fanatical critic.

Note: These examples are associated only in the use of fanatic and obsession. No other association is expressed or intended.

Hmmm,You know at first I thought rick was jealous of GW but now I think it makes him feel " Important " and " Special " and well maybe " Taller " in his own families eyes to attack the President of the United States. Can you say FOUR MORE YEARS ? Go EAGLES !!! JonR

This is a fun post to read! Thanks Rick for enlightening us on your feelings for bedding a gal with AIDS!

I would pass on that one!

Yea, Bill and Hillary were the cover children for what was wrong with America and continue to do so quite well!

Fanatic- dwelling on the stolen election!

Question: How many damn recounts should there be until the Democrats find one that would count the winner Al Bore? They have lost all of them so far and I bet they will continue to do so, including 2004!
