What Americans Really Think of Bush's State of the Union Speech

New numbers from the Office of Strategic Initiatives show overwhelming support for President Bush and say that 76 percent rated the speech favorably, and 70 percent say the policies outlined in the speech will move the nation in the right direction, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.

But Bush has Americans' favor all the way around:

69% express satisfaction with their financial situation (NBC/WSJ)

68% approve of Bush's handling of terrorism (NYT)

64% rate Bush as a strong leader (CBS/NYT)

59% say Bush cares about their needs and problems (CBS/NYT)

58% say the Bush administration has made progress on the economy (CBS/NYT)

58% approve of the president's job performance (ABC/Wash. Post)

54% approve of Bush's handling of the economy (Gallup)

54% favor the new Medicare law (NBC/WSJ)

When it comes to siding with the GOP or the Dems, Americans favor the GOP on national defense by 37 points, moral values by 22 points, foreign policy by 15 points, and taxes and controlling spending by 2 points.

Now tell me something... if you got a 100 bannana's and over 50% of them across the board are Yellow... wouldn't that make a damn good pie???

most of the american public (almost missed the l) watches sitcoms with laugh tracks to tell them what is funny. eight minutes of a half hour show is devoted to commercials.

many of the public lease cars now so they can drive cars they can't afford and end up filing bankruptcy on the third car because of the balance due on the previous two cars that the dealer moved to the 3rd car.

many single people in the 25 to almost 30 age group, still live at home because it is free. their parents don't either charge them rent or throw them out, so we ae back to the previous paragraph.

many of the public go to vegas and gamble and try to win. they don't realize the hotels are built with thier money.

most americans don't think. if they did, they would vote out both the democrats and the republicans in both houses as soon as they find out they are doing a lousy job running the government.

no business ever failed because they underestimated the stupidity of the american public.

nor any politician.

This is not my own personal assessment. I did listen to Steve Largent last night on Scarborough Country on MSNBC. Largent, as you know, is the Hall of Fame NFL wode receiver who went on to serve a few years in Congress as a very conservative Republican from Oklahoma. His assessment on the State of the Union speech was positive on Bush's delivery. However, he conceded that the content and substance of the speech left much to be desired. Largent is one of the stongest Bush supporters I know of and even his assesment had significant negative comments.

If one of the most conservative republicans had negative thoughts about the speech you can well imagine what most independents and democrats thought.

To suggest this speech had popular support is pure SPIN and PROPAGANDA!!!!!!
