thanks for posting that, hog. with all the confusion around this issue, it's good to be able to point people to just a couple of online sites.

well, I haven't found the Tobbaco Issue on the site as yet.. although there is a spot to contact local legislators (sp) and possibly add in the HR 2824

we need to gather all the gusto on this one and a petition signed by all would certianly make a dent...

passed along to all Cigar Forums as a link would be great!!!! I am going to email the webmaster of this site and find out how to go about getting this petition
started...

will get back on this issue

I was directed to your site from a friend.. I passed this site on to many others also...

my question is.. we have a Cigar Forum, well I am a member of many of them.

there is a bill that passed the Senate and now is sitting on the house floor. how can we go about setting up a simular petition for all our concerns to be addressed to the house on this Bill?

let me just post a bit of the concern that is felt by 1000's of Cigar Smoking Enthusiasts.. many of us have this as a hobby and a break away from the hustle and bustle of daily living.. many discussions are on these forums and if these bill's pass to make Law then eventually we will all fade away and we don't want to see this..

"You and I know how very different cigars are from cigarettes. Unfortunately, from time to time cigars get clumsily lumped in with cigarettes, and cigars become collateral damage. One of those times is right now. All cigar smokers who buy mail-order need to act! A recent bill was passed in the Senate (S.1177) which makes it illegal to ship cigarettes and smokeless tobacco over state lines, banning internet and mail-order sales. At the very last minute, unfortunately, one simple sentence stating "all tobacco products" was added. Of course the intent of the bill is cigarettes, not cigars - but the restriction as written would also ban mail-order cigars! Right now this bill (H.R. 2824) is before the House Judiciary Committee where they are deciding if it will go to the full House for a vote.

We need to all fight like hell to make sure the last-second language that the Senate added does not appear in the House bill. Notify your Congressman, and most urgently, notify the Congressmen who sit on the House Judiciary Committee from the list below. A link to a comprehensive, state by
state list of members of Congress is provided as well. The timing of your communication is urgent - the squeaky wheel
gets the grease so the more email and phone calls the better.
Tell them to leave cigars out of cigarette legislation!"

I am asking this site for some help on setting up a petition to get the word out quiclly to all legislation, so everyone of us can go to a simple site like you have set up here and sign it..

Thanks in Advance

Hello Senator Shimkus,

I am an Avid Cigar Smoker, (Love it as a Hobby) I am addressing you with my concerns about the recent bill that was passed in the Senate (S.1177) which makes it illegal to ship cigarettes and smokeless tobacco over state lines, banning internet and mail-order sales. At the very last minute, unfortunately, one simple sentence stating "all tobacco products" was added. Of course the intent of the bill is cigarettes, "not cigars" - but the restriction as written would also ban mail-order cigars! Right now this bill (H.R. 2824) is before the House Judiciary Committee where they are deciding if it will go to the full House for a vote.

I am writing to you Sir, to ask that the wording be changed to not include cigars on this bill. simple rewording could save this thriving hobby for many voters.

Thank You Sir,

Russell K. Walls
