Ok This is the best place to find out all kinda of stuff sooo

Anyone have replay tv? I am thinking about buying one off ebay 5040 or similar model. This is the 40 hour one. I know Life time sub is $300.00 and some already have this. Any help, thoughts, comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks Rob

Used to have TiVo, (ex has it now) it was nice, and you could dump anything you wanted to save long term to tape. it was nice to be able to pause something you weren't really recording to keep from missing anything when going to the bathroom.

I love my Tivo. I just got a new one (series 2). The old one still works but I wanted some of the functionality with the new ones, plus BestBuy had them pretty cheap after rebate and I got an extra 10% to boot!

Its nice to be able to set thigns up 1 time and not have to worry about wheter they are taped or not. I probably watch too much tv now... :)

Got my wife TIVO to offset my c-bid addiction. She absolutely LOVES it!! I highly reccomend it if you like to watch shows that come on before the kids go to bed or you go to bed before they come on. The coolest part about is the option to rewind a part of the show if you miss it because your kids set the dog on fire or something like that. It is awesome!

tivo.com

They'll even ship it to you...just like cbid!

I NEVER watch "live" tv anymore...unless at a sports bar or getting my nails done.

Ours has the most hours record time...something like 80 or so...I think we bought ours last February...and haven't regretted a single missed commercial, slow-mo sexy show, or being able to pause and come back from a tinkle (or tickle..heheh) break...

We even gave our first 40 hour tivo machine to our son for his room...once we realized that the 80 hour was the way to go to ensure a wider variety of viewing.

Even bought the lifetime subscription at the get go...no monthly payments...no regrets.

Look into it...I think they have a $50 rebate still...

well, I guess I'm the only one who has a Replay over a Tivo. It all depends on what's cheaper and what you want to use it for. They're essentially, (at this point) the same thing. If you're REALLY going to get a 50xx series then you'll hve the built-in commercial skip feature which I believe was eliminated in subsequent models.

I got the replay over Tivo because I'm a hobby-aholic and was able to hook it up to my LAN, offload the mpeg's to my PC and archive them off to DVD. The Ulead DVD burning program allows me to create my own menus and everything.

PS they're easy to upgrade so if you're at all tech savvy don't buy a larger HD size. I upgraded the 5040 to a 120 gig hardrive and use the 40 gig in one of my machines.

I believe Tivo is upgradeable as well but am not certain.
