Doesn't that seem to indicate that cigars are also allowed??
If cigars aren't allowed, then why don't these places state so?
I was asked to put out my cigar tonight. My brother in law, who does not smoke, asked why cigars are not allowed when cigarettes are. They said that they were cigarettes and people complained about the cigar smell. He then told them that he hates cigarette smoke, but likes cigar smoke and doesn't smoke and was pissed.
He was madder than I was.
I wish these places would define what is considered "smoking allowed".

No repeat business, cancel order, and leave... this is what I say and do if they come to me with that hogwash.

well, i smoke cigarettes as well as cigars, and if it were up to my wife i would ONLY smoke cigars. she likes the smell of the 'gars i smoke much more than "that stinky cigarette smoke."

i fear that the reason for bans on cigars in "smoking" sections is primarily due to the people who smoke nasty butt sticks like swisher, dutchies, and (god forgive them!) phillies. those so-called cigars DO stink, and badly. i'd rather sit next to a family of babies in smelly diapers than to try to gag down dinner next to someone smoking one of those malodorous twigs.

good cigars, though... mmmmmmm. nothing compares. honestly, i've had several cigars that haven't left much of an odor at all. so much so that i smoked with my den door open and the wife in the next room, and she had no idea that i'd lit one up at all.

so here's what ya do. Next time you go in, sit in the smoking section. Place your order and make it expensive. After the waiter leaves pull out a cigar and light it up. If the manager or someone comes by and asks you to put it out, put it out without a fuss. When your food arrives, call the manager over and tell him you are not satisfied with the smoking arrangements. Point out that you are in the smoking section and there is nothing clearly displayed that says cigars are prohibited. Then politely tell him that since you had to waste a ten dollar cigar, he can eat the cost of your dinner. get up and leave.

Ohhhhh Man thats cold... But I like yer thinking Doug!!!! great Idea...

few years back all the chicago guy's came in for the LOLH we were hanging out in this bar, drinking smoking and conversing with ourselves and the clientel, even the bartender and server... passed out cigars to many of the folks in the bar including the server and bartender.. as the day was turning into evening.. and the regular clientel were getting off work and filing in the place.. we were all asked to put out our cigars... what a Crock of ****!!!! I have not passed through the door of that joint since and have told many other locals to boycott their Business BS....

this is another reason why I hang out in the knife and gun clubs here in the hometown... no one give you any **** about the cigars... most know better to mind their own business... last night I gave out 5 cigars at the local K&G club while shooting pool, smoked a nice PI robusto, gave out another and the guy took out his knife and cut a peice off the foor and started chewing it.. later he fired it up and smoked the rest of it... said Man you got anymore of these???
very strange ritual never seen it before to say myself... but I told him if he's around next time I come in.. I'll have another one for him to chew LMAO!!!!

back to topic... I always ask the bartender/manager if they allow Cigars prior to seting up camp at any place if I'm going to enjoy a cigar... this always lets me know ahead of time its good to go..

but rude like above to say yes.. enjoy the company and the freebees and then change your mind and boot us out.. thats a No No

The funny thing is, I have smoked cigars there for the past 4 Fridays.
Nothing was ever said. Guess they must have had new people in there this Friday.
You see, it was in a private club. My brother-in-laws are all members. I'm not.
They sent a letter to them informing them that they weren't happy about inviting someone and telling them it was ok and embarassing thme and that they may rethink continuing their membership.
I told them it isn't that big a deal, but it really didn't sit well with them.
They refuse to go back, so this Friday they are "boycotting". Now they all want cigars.
They wanted to know what to buy, so I could only think of H. Upmann Vintage Cameroons offhand. LOL!
So they had someone drive 120 miles to get 5 cigars.
I told them to go to Cbid, but they couldn't wait that long. LOL!
My problem with it all was that when it says "Smoking Allowed", I wish they would make it clear if cigars are NOT allowed. If cigars aren't allowed, then are pipes? If they are, then why aren't cigars?
Funny stuff. LOL!

Damn good idea. Order a huge dinner and when they tell you to put out your cigar WALK on them!

I would make a special trip to a restaurant just to do that!
