"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted................. and I won't be layed a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them."

This came to mind to accompany fudge's words on the "Illegal Immigrant Mom/Daughter Beaten to Death" post.

Its a good thing to live by.

And was that only the second movie he made with Jimmy Stewart?
I can only think of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance other than that one.

John Wayne quotes

Courage is being scared to death - but saddling up anyway

I've always followed my father's advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be goddamn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.

Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday

Talk low, talk slow, and don't talk too much

I have most of his movies!

Me too, mostly on vhs though, going to have to start copying them onto discs. He was a one of a kind.
I think Joel Mccray and Randolf Scott came closest to him in their own ways, but there will never be another duke.

"That sounds like Liberty Valance, he's the fastest gun south of the picket wire, except for me"!
