I just got some cigars that have a little tighter draw than I like. Is there a way to loosen it up without messing up the cigar?

Experience will help you, the more you encounter this situation and work through it before giving up and throwing the cigar away, the better you will get at it. Alot depends on where the problem is in the cigar. If it is up near the head you can try rolling the cigar between your fingers and trying to work the tobacco to open up a bit. You can also try pushing a straightened paper clip down through the end. It also depends on how moist the tobacco is. A moist cigar may have problems while if that same cigar were dried out a bit more it may smoke much easier. A drier cigar may be difficult to work with if it is plugged because the wrapper may become brittle and fragile. Some people like to take a cigar out of the humidor the day before they smoke it to let it dry out a bit. Don't give up too easily but when it becomes more work than play you may have to move on. ENJOY!

If you don't want them right away try putting them in your humidor to age. This will relax the cigar and allow it to age properly so you will have the best smoke possible. If you are in a hurry to light one up a drawpoker which can be purchased from Thompson Cigar can help.

Not endorsing Thompson's squattro....just a mere suggestion of a item carried by them that does the same exercise you suggested with a paper clip.

You can stick whatever in your cigar and yes it will help. Hell, I'm sure that's a hobby for some of you hill billy's. But alas, the reason for this inexcusable tragedy is such: Your buying **** cigars!!! Buy better cigars and you will spend less time pokin' and more time smokin'!!!

Even the best have some that are hard to draw wanyburger...I have smoked Cubans that you would have to mortgage your house upon to own a box that had a few that were tight to the draw....as far as the hill billy way, don't know myself...there are rednecks all over and one may just be your next door neighbor!
