Auto Bid Scam

It appears that when you use auto-bid they run your bid up right at the end to squeeze a few extra dollars out of you. Looks like a systematic thing. I think cigarbid has an auto-bid feature that auto-bids everyone's auto bid up a notch or two right before the cut off.

I have not had that problem. what are you bidding on that you thought you paid too much for? and why did you auto bid that much in the first place?

Chairman VI,No it's not a scam, not that I know of anyway. They're called LMB's or Last minute bidders and it happens all the time.C-bid used to have a feature where you could cancel your bid within 15 min.after you made it and a lot of guys would bid up to where they wanted to and if you didn't win you could cancel and it would go back to the original layout.Needless to say they got wise and dscontinued this feature. The only thing I can tell you is don't bid more than you want to pay.I have goten some great deals here but as you can see some people will pay way over retail even.(Go figure). All I can say is if it's not going to go for what you want wait til next time.

I have no problem with the price I paid. I paid $33, but up until the last minute I was at $31 with the max auto-bid of $33. There was two boxes and the other bidder was at $33. I figure the system new my max bid and hit me up for it.

$33 was the max I was willing to pay, so I did not pay more than I was willing. My complaint is that this is a competitive auction and if Cigarbid is running up the autobids, then that takes the competition out of it. My defense in the future is to set the auto-bids much lower and for the boxes I really want step in at the last minute and do my own manual auto bid.

It could also be someone who sees the auto bid on just trying to run the bid up, but if they do that, they may risk getting stuck with something they do not want; thats why I think it is cigarbid doing it.

i have been bidding here for sometime now, and i have had plenty of instances where i got cigars for less than my max amount.... There have also been cigars that i got for the max amount... There have also been times that i have lost bids for a dollar (one)... So i seriously doubt that C.B. has anything to do with it...

This last minute bidding(LMB) is something that happens on ebay all the time! In fact I will check the closing bid items on CB and see if I can get a LMB deal quite frequently! I do not thing CB is doing any "illicit" bid fixing or driving price up a buck or two at the end. I do know that they have the best customer service department of all the people in this business and will correct any "wrongs" or "mistakes" that you feel justified in taking to them! Charlie

Since your "Auto Bid" was given at an earlier time than the LMB's, you win however this schmuck just caused you to shoot your wad. Like the others have stated, if you really wanted the lot that badly, and set what you thought was a fair limit price...then...don't bitch if you have to pay it.

Everything on the level as far as I'm concerned. Got one item in the low 30's with an auto-bid max in the 50's. I've seen the same item bring over $70. And all were under retail as far as I can tell. Just bid your maximum and take your chances. If you dob't win, you're likely to see it again. Just check your "Bids Lost account, see what it went for, and plan accodingly the next time around.

I will say this, I reserve the right to bitch if I want to. If I do not bid enough and do not get the smokes I am after; or if I do not get them for as cheap as I could; either way, I will bitch. I will bitch here because it is here and on the VI BB where I can say any word under the sky and say anything I want about anyone or any product.

All praise the great and powerful VI... Chairdude, word of advice: If ya ain't gettin' any at home, this ain't the place to git yer rocks off by playing the role of Hillary. Besides, Gonz is the man behind the curtain, and he CAN prevent you from typing with Carte Blanche. By the way, where is this VI B&B? I'm looking for a nice weekend retreat...

I LMB'd this past weekend and got a box of Cupido Torpitos for $56!!!! Freakin' nuts! That's not cigarbid bumping your price up, it's people like me trying to get in under the radar :)

I just checked out (briefly) the VI BB...Whattajoke...You have to pay to be a member and the last time the site was even updated was OCTOBER 1999!...Yeah...Riiiight...Gee...Wonder where all the collected $$$ is going?..Obviously not for upkeep of the site..Looks like a big scam to me...ten bucks per member per year plus other reimbursements?...Gimme a break..No wonder you guys left and came here.

LOL@ Rookie! Just because the update is wrong dosent mean the place isnt up to date, Actually we have not ever been "Closed down" except for a few times to update the "Inside " of the club..Further you can join just by herfing with one or more of us a couple of times so we get to know you and the one time ten dollar fee covers your membership for life.. Where do you get your info from? If it was from the front page of the site then you are just making some sorry assumption.. By the way our club is made up of both Men and Women from all walks of life. This group is made up of all sorts of people just like here and to decide who we are by the smallest of experiance with us is a bit on the assumptive side... I would never assume you represent the whole group here and by the way I saw your picture with the dog, Its "cute", Should I make judgement from that picture....JMHO

According to the page on the site, it says that its a ten dollar fee EACH YEAR, not for life...If it's for life, then I would definitely think that it's a good deal!...BTW, that pic of the guy with the dog isn't me but another one of our founders at KC's (which will remain nameless as to not embarass him again...LOL)

Here is the link to the page where it lists membership as $10 each year...I would kind of expect the info to be somewhat correct...I don't think it's a "sorry assumption" to expect this....Oh well...Maybe I'll repost the pic of Coach and his dog...Ooops...Did I just give the name out?....Damn...Sorry...LOL
