heh. you all are great. :) got a LOT of ideas from this. i'm home alone during the day and can't stand up for long to cook "real food" so i kind of depend on leftovers from last night's dinner or whatever i can make quickly (and i'm sick to death of most of that -- esp. anything from a box that includes mixing in a powdery "cheese substitute!" or raman ANYTHING!).

my wife is so cool... monday she made a HUGE batch of keema. i could eat that stuff every meal for a month!
anyway, we froze part of it in batches that i can just nuke and eat in five minutes.

if you've not had it, keema is a kind of "indian chili" (dots not feathers!). ;)

it's ground beef (and/or lamb) with spices inc. chili powder, tomatoes and onions and... peas. (i know, but it REALLY is good!). it's served over rice and with a dallop of plain yogurt on top, and it's sooooooooo good! anyone wanting the recipe, email me: BBELTRISI at ec.rr.com

thanks again for the ideas -- esp. the reminder about eggs in a nest. when my mama used to make it, she'd put some roasted red peppers on top of the egg in the middle. mmmmmmmmmm...

Never sick of the cheesy stuff myself.........Marla

if you like the cheesy stuff, i wonder if you'd be into this stuff i used to make -- tuna cheese chowder (i must be losing my boston accent; i meant CHOWDAH!). :)

it's basically canned tuna, velveeta, chicken broth and some spices (garlic, pepper, some folks put in onions and poppy seeds too). it's cheap and easy but incredibly good. make of that last sentence what you will!

ooooh yeaaaaaaah... something new to me here in NC is that folks *still* get green stamps at the grocery store! in our first year here we got a very nice, big crockpot with ours. we don't use it nearly enough, but i think it's time to dig in and start getting some recipes. only things i've made in it are cincy style chili and swiss steaks. grazie for the tip, marla!
