from i have been warning all of you
where do you begin, begin at the beginning.

as for fdr, he came into office with an agenda, as they all do. he started spending the people's
money (taxes) to create jobs with things like the wpa. the tva, and whatever he could he could
think
of as infrastructure that was needed and that could provide work to cut into the 30% or more
unemployment rate. he created many of the social programs that still exist today, and started the
mind set, that the government should be responsible for people's needs because the federal
government could do things people could not. how far is it from the postal service to medicare
and relief, now known as welfare. of course the rich did not like the idea of not being able to
control their own money, and the rich got rich, partially by the use of cheap labor. child labor is the
best example of cheap labor.

so fdr did some good things. but allowing pearl harbor to happen, to get us in a war, to bring the
economy back, is reprehensible. would a democrat do that? say it isn't so rick. but it is so.

henry ford was the first entrepreneur that, not because of altruistic reason, gave his employees a
decent wage. his $5.00 a week or a day or whatever, it escapes me for the moment, had some
clauses, ie: you had to stay on the job a certain length of time in order to earn that money.

his reasoning was simple and sound. who is going to buy his product if no one is making enough
money to pay for his it. personally he had a lot of character flaws, but it did not influence his
business sense.

he got rich by enriching his labor pool. this idea has been lost by most of today's ceo's like ken
lay, ****** cheney. because of their greed to acquire more money then they could need in 100
lifetimes. has made ceo's salaries over 400 times the average wage of their employees
regardless of ceo's performance. in other countries the average is more in the middle double
digits, 50 times. the acquisition of wealth is addictive. what more could eisner possibly do to earn
close to a million dollars a month then say $100,00 salary would not accomplish, leaving a lot
more money to pay the stock holders for their investment in disney.

about the people held in detention or people designated as enemy combatants. what does that
mean anyway. you don't know if they are or not, we are pretty sure oj is a murderer, but a court
found him innocent, excuse me, not guilty. where does little w and his merry band, get to usurp
the constitution. in the middle ages, kings could decide to jail people for whatever reason they
wanted. has a king been appointed.

we have laws now that prevent the kind of kingly rule that apparently is back. rumsfeld said he
would allow investigation of the detainees, but only he would review the results and make a
decision. does the king have a prince to help him while he clears brush.

you are glad that these people are in detention, because they plot to kill americans. no, the one's
that plot are still out there. don't forget the only civilian planes flying on 9/12 were private planes
flying around the country picking up saudi princes and their entourage. aren't you at least a little
interested in why.

these detainees are pow's who are so out of the loop, they probably don't know or never knew
what was going on.

i hope your children will not live in fear and perhaps if we get this country back on track and get rid
of the colors of the terrorists next threat become passe.

don't forget this person used to put firecrackers in the mouths of frogs, to watch them explode.
what a guy.

for your info, my blood pressure is a constant 105 over 68, i so rarely get intensely angry, i have
forgotten what the rush of adrenalin feels like.

if i have missed any of your question, i know you will let me know.

you know that some people don't want to "have a nice day", so have any kind of day you want.

Social Programs and FDR

You are correct when you say that FDR started the mindset that the federal government could do something that people could not. Social programs are created with the intent of helping poor families but they inevitably keep poor families poor, and that is something that only the power of the federal government can accomplish.

Henry Ford

Your comment about Henry Ford is simply wrong. Working in one of Ford’s factories was so hard on people that they would quit after a short time on the job. The $5 per day wage (part wage and part bonus) was a response to the high turnover rate in his factories. The only way Ford could keep the assembly line running at top speed was to pay workers more money, and pay it in such a way that people couldn’t afford to quit just because the work was hard. Henry Ford’s intent was NOT to create a class of people able to afford Model-T cars, but to keep production up. Creating a middle class was an unintended consequence of the $5 a day wage, not the reason for it.

Henry Ford didn’t get rich by enriching his labor pool. You need to remember that, at the turn of the century (the 20 th century) horse manure was tied with coal smoke as the number one pollutant in American cities. Henry Ford got rich by providing an alternative to horses that was easier to manage and was less polluting than horses.

Detainees

When one army captures members of the opposing army during wartime, the prisoners are held until the war is over. If you release the prisoners, you not only supply reinforcements to your enemy, but you give the enemy information to use against your own army. Even Lincoln saw this as a problem for the Union and ended the practice of prisoner exchanges to hasten an end to the Civil War. The same thing applies to the detainees in Cuba and elsewhere. Releasing them only supplies our enemies with well-fed and well-rested troops that are ready to reenter the battlefield.

Exploding Frogs

Every human being has done at least one cruel thing to some other living thing, be it an animal or another human being. Some people would argue that keeping your bird in a cage is cruel, that if you truly loved the bird you would set it free.

Summary

George W. Bush is doing everything he believes is necessary to win the war against terrorism and build a better America. To borrow a campaign slogan, “you don’t change horses in the middle of a stream.”

Topped so that RICK doesn't forget that he owes me at least one more reply.

BTW, I enjoy debating with you, RICK, as long as the tone is civil.
