i just saw the questionable 4 seconds.

do you think it's a "tastefully done reminder of our shared experience" or "using the deaths of the victims for political purposes?"

the first statement comes from a bush spokesperson.
the second comes from someone who lost a relative on 9/11.

another observer (a firefighter) says that it's hypocritcal to show firefighters carrying the coffin of one of their own lost that day while this administration cut first responder funds from the federal budget.

what'cha think?

I haven't seen the ad yet, but I think he should use the images if he wants to. It happened under his watch and he got the country through it as well as anyone could. Heck even Clinton was running TV spots shortly after it praising the way Bush was handline it. What happened on 9-11 affected Bush as much as it has the rest of us, but he was in charge when it happened, so it probably sits heavier on him.
I don't know anything about the 'First Responders Fund' but I know that the Firefighters Union has backed Kerry for president, and that quote came from the union spokesperson. It wouldn't surprise me if the firefighters union had a response like that for any imagery with firefighters in it, not just 9-11

I think the ad shows a Leader who in a tragic time took a Country who was down and brought it off it's knees and I've seen the growth in spirit, financial, and Unity... We need a leader like this in office another 4 yrs unless I see something better out there...

as far as the 911 small footage what makes this as bad as the crap movies they toss on TV all the time? what makes this worse then the propaganda media coverage of the Iraq war we see every day on TV?? what makes this worse then the Gays Gay Marrage Cr@p and the Schools picking up teaching this **** in our Schools???

Shove all the other **** down mine and my kids throats but don't you dare shove the Facts at me of what happened on 911 and our fellow countrymen and Nation taking a blow that it did... and then rebuilding under the current leadership.. My Mind cannot deal with this Much!!!!!! I gotta go watch Cops now.. in the previews some SOB just wiped out 4 kids playing on a street corner in a high speed car chase...

and another thing.. they need to Take Passion of Christ off the screens because I cannot handle this much factual events all in one election year...

"this administration cut first responder funds from the federal budget."

Ok Lets do some research and see who really did cut this funding??? everything falls on the Administration.. but what party's were the actual culprets?? I'm tired of hearing it's all Bushes Fault.. by these pansy @ss's who don't take enough time to research who really was at fault.. I used to be young and dumb and fell on BS like this.. but until I read into it a bit more.. then I will by off...

Cavallo, You should know better then to ask questions you already know the answer to.
Bush supporters myself included think that it should be used. and that we should all remember that tragic day===and also point out that since the attack there has not been another on American soil
Bush bashers and they know who they are are gonna say it was appaling and in bad taste yada yada yada,,, that Kerry would never do anything that crass. and he is a war hero and Bush went awol
But the question no one wants to answer is "Who do our enemies want elected president in November"
Oh by the way new unemployment stats show that the unempolyment level is the same now as in 1993 (Clintons reign) and more people are working now than ever before in American history. But you wont hear that on the evening news.

first off, let me clarify this for anyone in doubt: i am not a "bush basher" and i am not "pro kerry." okay? hope that's clear now.

no, i did NOT "already know the answer" to this question.

what i posted was what was on the news tonight -- no commentary by me at all. i was and am curious to hear what OTHERS think of it. but here's my take:

i think that this WAS tastefully done. they could have used images a HELL of a lot more disturbing -- that would have evoked a lot of emotions and could well have stirred up more votes for GWB. it could have swung the other way, too, and made for an outcry of the ghoulishness of it all.

i saw the four seconds in question. i see NOTHING wrong with it whatsoever. it is not gory. it is not ghoulish. it is not disrespectful in ANY way that i can see. so i actually SALUTE GWB's campaign for including what was, absolutely, a defining part of his presidency. well done.

as for the FF's comments -- i, too, would like to see the numbers. it's a hefty accusation to level against the president. if anyone has the actual numbers and unbiased info, i'd definitely like to see it.

finally, i think that anyone who whines about these four seconds as using an atrocity for political gain has an awfully damned biased, myopic view of 9/11 and an even thinner skin.

9/11's events happened to ALL of us. there is no property trademark on the events of that day. it belongs to ALL OF US -- INCLUDING GWB.

sorry if i disappointed anyone with my supportive viewpoints. :P

This is the typical Much Ado About Nothing.

I finally saw the clip, and watched O'Reilly interview two folks who each lost brothers in the towers.
They both felt it was in poor taste, and somehow disrespectful.

They are both wrong.

I'm sorry that they lost a loved one in 911. But to suggest that the Ad was in "poor taste" is ludicrous. It showed the burned out tower, and a quick glimpse of a coffin being carried out of the rubble.

Please note that the gal on O'Reilly described the coffin as a "body". Gives a more haunting image, doesn't it?

These same people, who don't want 911 images for political purposes, are likely the first in line to collect their cash from Uncle Sam regarding these same tragedies.

There is not a damn thing wrong with the ad! Agree with Joe (Tailgater) on this and the way he worded his response!

i'm certainly glad you all march to the same drum.

"tastefully done" sort of like the joe camal ads, and the marlboro man, who eventually died of lung cancer.

"What happened on 9-11 affected Bush as much as it has the rest of us" what the hell does he care about human life. he holds the current record for executions as governer. never reviewing one single case. "the rest of us" are being affected by the "patriot act" among other BS.

"he was in charge when it happened" and he read a book about a goat.

"i think the ad shows a Leader who in a tragic time took a Country who was down and brought it off it's knees." don't you mean to it's knees.

i've seen these well produced and well scripted ads, not unlike the spam that asks if you want to increase your member by 3".

you were all over my ass when i used the 9/11 photo even after i apologized for the bodies falling, which i posted in error.

if he gets elected, for the first time, i guess he could run for another term, your children will live in another country then the one i have lived in.

any response to this will simply be more BS by those blinded by bush.

The left are only complaining because it's their only option. Bush is a great leader and has surrounded himself with a great team. They have done a remarkable job with our economy and the war on terror.

Kerry's best chance at victory is if the American people forget about 9/11.

^^^Thank you^^^

and Rick...you choose to post links to people jumping out of the WTC from websites that have clear cut agendas to discredit true leadership.

You can call it lock-stepping all you want, but I don't see any "leader" emerging from the pack that has the courage to lead this nation right now!

pass on that reference to a post i made with people jumping to thier death. i have spoken about my error and i see no reason to apoligize again. other then that...

"I don't see any "leader" emerging from the pack"

once again i agree wih you completely. kerry is just another politician, same suit, same haircut, different tie. another best of the worst.

nadar can kiss off. his time as they say "has come and went."

i have to go with who a sort of hippocratic oath syndrome, who can do the least harm. i've seen the harm little w, has done, and can do in the future, if still the frontman for a group of fanatics who have the country by the balls.

i wish a chicken or a monkey were running, it would make my choice so much easier.

Yo Rick: You posted a picture of people falling from the tower and claimed you didn't know what it was and apologized for posting that picture. Now you post a url with the same picture in it and say if we don't like it "TOUGH ". A ghoul by any other name ( Rick ) is still a ghoul. What did you eat for breakfast Arm and Legs ? JonR

Did the family members and firefighters who found the ads distasteful vote Republican in the last election?
