Hello everyone,
I just got a nice digital camera for my birthday, and have taken some nice pics....but when i try to post them here, the file is too large. How do I get them under the required size.

...Thank you for any help

Dave,

Open up the picture and see if you can resize it then save it...then simply look at the size it resized to.

What are you using to view the pics???....

there should be an edit program in the software that came with your camera. i use picccture it 1999 because it does what i need.

i use the crop part to outline what i want to show and then there is a way to reduce the size of the picture, recrop it and eventually i get under the 100 mg restriction.

i probably do it the goofiest wasy possible and i'm sure there are guys with much better ways, but i like the simplest. if i can dup the picture it, i will be glad to send it to you.

i bought it on ebay for a few bucks. i find the older programs easier to use, less complicated.

I use microsoft picture-it. It allows me to save it for different resolution settings. It will knock down a 200kb file to about 30kb at the click of a button. Sure it's a little grainy but it works.

Is there an option for TAKING pictures in e-mail mode? If so, do that for your next session of pic taking...

That's what I do. Then when you download to you computer, you have both the larger size file and the e-mail size file...

Check it out.

As for the ones that you've already taken...what they said above...

Good luck and welcome to the digital age.............Marla

Thank you Marla, and the rest for the helping hand. I have been trying everything this morning to get my pictures under the 100kb.
I have Picture It 2001, IrfanView, and a program that came with the camera....but after messing with the actual size of the picture it doen't fall below 100kb.
I really am an idiot when it comes to these types of computer things, and further help would be much appreciated.

Also keep in mind that if your image is in JPG format, you can tweak the compression of the image to get a smaller file size. Higher compression = smaller file size = some loss of image quality. The loss of image quality really isnt that noticeable, though. Especially if you are only posting it on the Internet or e-mailing it to someone.

Also on your camera you can usually lower the resolution! Good Luck, Happy Birthday!
