How did this "profound" creation of email chain letter get started???

Or how did the "taking God out of schools" get started?

Which question?

I can address number 2.

Seems that the minority "free thinkers"(not sure why they refer to themselves as that when they want to force their disbelief on you!)believe that the seperation of church and state issues revolve around the belief system of the majority of Americans.

The fact of the case is that the seperation of church and state doesn't state that there's no God or that we shouldn't believe in God. It details the necessity of our young nation to ensure that people of faith had the freedom to worship in the manner that they chose to and not a government sponsered religion like what was rammed down the throats of englishmen with the Church of England. Never in their words to they form the opinions of anyone NOT believing in God. Their writings were strewn with references to God, Holy Father and the Bible.

It's appalling that a few judges in today's society have taken upon themselves to interpret what they want as far as the laws of this great country go. They've forgotten about the majority and have proceeded with the notion that they know what the intention of the law was supposed to mean. I'm positive that if our Founding Fathers knew of the mess that would be raging today in their nation at the result of their words they would've made damn sure to detail every letter and defining their defination of the word is.

god hasn't been taken out of schools.

it's just that all students are no longer FORCED to pray a prayer of one religion (christianity) or pledge allegiance to the flag represented in part by a god that they may not believe in.

i can just hear the outcry now if "it was no big deal; just don't say the 'god' part" if we were to pray an islamic prayer or start saying "one nation, under buddha, with liberty and justice for all."

Cav.. the first ammendment to the Constitution of this Great Nation gives us the right to Freedom of speech..

that Speech is English as a "Chosen" Language...
go to Japan and that is their Chosen "Japanise"
Russia.. "Russian"
Same as the Religion Chosen in the Founding of this Nation.... you don't have to accept it.. but you don't have a right to strip it from all others either!!!!

And nothing bad has ever happened to children at Catholic Schools because God is allowed.

The USA never forces one person to speak English in America. I know some people who never spoke a lick of English and still lived in America. That's where your analogy fails. Why do we force a child to say God?

And those who made the decisions during our Founding of this Nation choose that only white males had full rights. I guess we should make everyone get surgery to turn us all into white males to earn our rights.

Cavallo and Choner, I think you've had your heads in the sand for about 40 years! I remember a few years ago, a student in west Texas was told she couldn't sing before a HS football game, because she always gave a prayer first, and said she would not stop as long as she had the forum. What happened to HER 1St Amendment Rights? I've heard of teachers who were threatened with dismissal, unless they stopped wearing a cross in class (not discussing it, just wearing it!) A nativity scene on public property violates the separation of Church and State somehow, but it's alright to hold a Gay Pride rally? I don't hate gays, but I hardly see where allowing someone a place to place a temporary display which doesn't promote anything but the joy of the Christmas Season is somehow offensive to ANYONE (well, except Madeline Murray O'Hare) But HER rights override anyone elses! Go figure!

[Oops.]

Let's say:

You are a minority devout Christian living in a predominantly Moslem country. Your are, of course, trying to raise your children to be devout Christians.

At your children's schools, they bow to the east several times a day to pray to Allah, they believe in Jihaad, and they believe in 72 virgins awaiting them in Paradise (and a lot of other things not consistent with your beliefs).

Also, you are guaranteed tremendous rights and freedoms as an individual in that country .

Do you take this quietly and try to convince your children at home that everyone else in the world is wrong, or do you invoke your "rights", and insist that society not teach your children what you think is wrong?

Sir Hog:

>that Speech is English as a "Chosen" Language...

Have you used a major city's ATM recently?

>go to Japan and that is their Chosen "Japanise"

Japanese are very interested in improving their English. Their ways are (sadly) turning more "Western".

>Russia.. "Russian"

I dunno, but see above for worldwide trends.

>Same as the Religion Chosen in the Founding of this >Nation.... you don't have to accept it.. but you don't >have a right to strip it from all others either!!!!

The "Founding" point is debatable, but as I said once before in a post, Slavery was once OK in this country, and now it isn't. Which is right? Gimme that old time religion?

Hog,

The ATM's that tick me off are the ones that make me select english to continue. English isn't the default on these machines (with other options offered, if desired).

English seems to be on its way to being the world language for business... except in the US.

wekikther4wer,

Problem solved?

Don't underestimate peer pressure. Have you ever tried to tell a kid one thing when "all the other kids" believe something else?
