Is there anything more bothersome, more indefatigable, more unpleasant on a “visceral” level both literally and figuratively, than trouble with the GI tract?

My baby had a bug last week, then the wife and her dad, my turn started last night at 7:30… OMG! I sprayed a little Lysol to kill a bug. And I thought it was the smell of it that was getting to me? So I said, I’m going to bed (at like 7:00) I laid back there writhing. Got up and went to the bathroom and “tried” to throw up. I.e., assume the position and hope for the best? Because that will make you feel better if your stomach is on the fritz.

Nope, back to bed and suffering, then at 7:30, there she blows (projectile). Made it to the bathroom. Then it was time to swap positions and basically do the same thing out the other end… This went on until 4:30 this morning. Every hour or two with no sleep.

Toward the end, there’s nothing to bring up. That’s the worst, the dry heaves… Because your whole body tenses up and spasms and holds it because there’s nothing there to bring. God!! It was miserable!! 10:00 now and all not well, but things are staying where they’re supposed to. The good news, if there is any, is that this is a 24 hour bug.

Now back to your potatoes and gravy :-) Hey, what’s for lunch?

Thanks for sharing! *knock on wood* I haven't been sick like that in years, but I remember how it feels...

We have a bunch of new kids on the ship and they were all getting seasick... then you have those "sympathy" pukers who get sick when they see someone else get sick. I just make fun of them like a good sailor should.

I have never been seasick. I just get sleepy when the seas get rough.

Robby

those symptoms always seem to happen when a person is home, never at a movie, or during shopping, or visiting someone.

i wonder what the connection is.

next time, dring a lot of warm water and finally a small glass of warm water with a little dish soap in it. the warm water will stay down and help dilute whatever is and stop the dry heaves that hurt your balls and the soap water will bring it all up.

finish with a cold glass of sprite or 7up to clean out your mouth

dang, robby. :/ i hope you're feeling better soon, bro! i had a milder form of the aforementioned this weekend -- it wasn't a virus, though -- i started taking lasix to get my leg swelling down, and i got alllll kinds of dehydrated. same symptoms but, um, much more dry. heh.

DO push the fluids, seriously. non-caffeinated clear fluids -- water, juice, uncarbonated/flat sprite/7-up. carbonation creates gas, which can get your stomach on another roll.

and don't forget the BRAT diet -- bananas (for potassium), rice, applesauce and toast -- until you're okay again.

no cigar for me since saturday coz of the noz. but i'll smoke one for ya tonight! get better!

I definitely feel ya, last year had GI problems too. Went to a specialist, was told it was IBS and was scheduled for a colonoscopy as a afterthought. Doc found several precancerous tumors in the colon in me at the tender young age of 26 ("If" you get these, you get them after the age of 65) Funny thing is, would have found them after it was too late if my newly diagnososed IBS hadn't acted up.
