the tapes are too cheap to discuss and media mail is almost free, so consider it a birthday gift and don't even offer to reimburse me.

we do forget. tonight i watched a 2 hours special on vietnam, on one of the off the wall channels.

i go to the va 4 or 5 times a year and see the guys in their 50's or 60's that are vietnam vets. the physical pain and suffering they endured is obvious, but the mental anguish that still haunts them after 35 or 40 years is not as noticeable. i have a friend that did 3 tours and he has been affected. my uncle served in some army entertainment groups and they entertained the guys before they left for normandy. i remember he spent years taking kleenex out of a box and ripping it into shreds and repeating the same thing over and over.

i have heard people mention being spit on and called baby killers. i do not understand that. these guys that i know and see are still paying the price for the vietnam war. most of them were fresh out of high school, babies really. they did their time in the service and that makes them special. for anyone to think of them in a negative way, is mean, stupid, and totally insensitive to these guys.

I visit at the VA too. If everyone would visit only ONCE per year, imagine what an impact that would have on these brave people. Please consider doing this, for those haven't thought about it.

Thanks for the post Rick - I have watched "Band" three times already, and will watch as much again as I can. The best drama EVER made for television.

Good call on the show Rick. This is the sixth time I'll be watching the series. Well worth it, spectacular show indeed, very well done.

I totally agree with what you said about how our GI's were treated after Vietnam. Whether you agree or not about the particular war is irrelevant. The important part is that you support the troops, PERIOD. Really sad that many people don't get this.

drive there and just wander around and say hello to people. sit down next to almost anyone and ask "how are you doing?" that's all there is to it.

Rick

Band of Brothers is one of the best television projects ever undertaken and will remain forever a classic! Thanks for your offer I would take you up on it, but I have the DVD set! We need more projects like Band of Brothers by Hollywood.

Love the series, i have it on DVD. If i had a dvd burner i'd start burning copies for people. Truly is a great series. I think the last episode or two sorta dragged, but man did i need a drink after watching those episodes where they were in Bastogne getting the chit artilleried out of them...

Rick I would love to have a copy of the series. I saw the HBO premiere a couple of years ago, it was outstanding. Visiting the VA is a good idea as well, I'll make it a point to visit soon.

I'll send you an email.

I only got to see one episode, but it happened to be the one where they stumble on the 'work camp'. I'm not ashamed to say I was in tears. Very well done show. Some nice person I know who has the DVD set will have to accidentally copy it for me.
