When I used to chew tobacco (quit a year ago), I only used Copenhagen, nothing else. I prefer the Canadian Copenhagen, as it "seems" to have a stronger taste.

I know folks who smoke cigarettes that only smoke one brand and nothing else.

Why is it that cigar smokers smoke such a wide rang of brands, yet other tobacco users tend to stay with one brand?

I guess I had too much time on my hands today. LOL!

maybe it has to do with the addictive nature of cigarettes (not that cigars aren't addicting, but I don't know too many people who are smoking a box a day) and how you smoke many many a day, not for the taste but for the "fix" that it gives you. Most cig smokers stick to one brand, not for the taste, but maybe because the brand they have chosen gives them the desired effect and is less offensive than any other brands.

What you say is true for me but I know several "one brand" cigar smokers. Once on a fishing trip one of my buddies drove 40 miles each way to buy "Backwoods" cigars.

When I was younger, I hated cigars; I tried several brands (hav-a-tampa, swisher, white owl, dutch masters) all gave me a bad taste. Later I went into a cigar shop and bought a really nice cigar, it was a Punch. I actually enjoyed it and my love started.

Having been a chef and appreciating and collecting wine and Scotch as well, cigars are in the same plane. One appreciated the actual tobacco leaves, contruction, taste, appearance, finish and overall presentation.

That is why I LOVE cigars (not as much as my wife though. I tried many women, all beauties, before her and when I found her and experienced every facet of her I became a one brand man).

When I smoked cigarettes I usually stuck to the same brand for years at a time. I sometimes switched between regular and menthol but once I made the switch I'd stick with it for a long time. Because I worked on aircraft, I couldn't smoke while working so I used skoal. Sometimes away from work, I'd have a dip of skoal in my mouth and a cigarette going at the same time. It was definitely an addiction and although taste did play a role in my choice of brands, it was more about the nicotine.

I've been cigarette and skoal free for about 15 years. I smoke cigars mostly for relaxation and socializing. I sometimes go for days without smoking and I don't sit around jonesing for a cigar. The variety of strengths and flavors are a treat to experience and enjoy but I still have my core brands that I gravitate towards when I stock my cabinet. I tend to stay with certain flavor profiles and avoid cigars that stray too far from my preferred smokes.

I buy a box of something I like once in a great while, but I go for sampler packs more than anything else.

Lets see...about 14 years ago i used to be a 5 can a week Copenhagen guy...and for 'chaw...well enjoyed RedMan GoldenBlend....and that is what i stuck to...think it had more to do with playing ball...

Now i just enjoy my cigars...and the differnt tastes are just part of enjoying them...

As was mentioned by someone...you mainly stick to one brand to get your fix...
